Summary

Dead Island 2may have felt like a flash in the pan for many butDambuster Studios has continued to expand upon the game over the last year, promising a major new update in October. While it may have debuted to mixed reviews,Dead Island 2certainly found its audience as the visceral combat and progression hooked those who’ve been longing to return to the franchise since the original game. Fortunately for those fans who enjoy crushing undead skulls, they’ll soon be able to do it all again with some extra perks.

Posting to the officialDead Island 2blog,Dambusters confirmed that the forthcoming update in October will add the much-demanded New Game Plus mode. As can be expected from such a feature, players who dive into New Game Plus can play through the campaign again with all their already unlocked abilities and weapons but there’s more to it than that. The developer elaborated that the mode will grant players a higher level cap, and an extra skill slot while also adding new skins, weapons, and foes alongside a major difficulty increase.

Dead Island 2: Best Things to Do After Beating The Game

The sprawling chaos of Hell-A can still be explored after beating Dead Island 2, with plenty of tasks to do and quests to complete once the game ends.

The Bobcats Are Back

If an extensive New Game Plus mode isn’t enough to bring players back toDead Island 2then Neighborhood Watch might do the trick. In a dynamic horde-style mode that puts players in the shoes of the Bobcats, survivors will need to work together to kill zombies, set traps, and survive for five in-game daysbefore repelling the undead’s last massive wave. Dambusters promises some major replayability, explaining that players can unlock new abilities to keep every run unique while alsoearning exclusive skins and weaponsfor successfully pushing back the horde.

WhileDead Island 2has managed to carve out a decent niche for itself, the game didn’t impress critics when it launched in 2023. While reviews weren’t overly negative, many felt it was a disappointing sequel that didn’t do enough to differentiate itself from the original titledespite being in development for over a decade. Regardless, most would agree that it’s an underrated gem that excels atproviding players with a fun combat systemandenough weapon variety to keep things interestingfor the duration of the campaign.
