Black Myth: Wukonghas received its second notable patch since launch, and the new update makes some fixes that should smooth over common rough points in the Destined One’s journey. In many regards,Black Myth: Wukongwas an impressively polished game upon its release, with plenty of well-honed fight experiences and a general lack of game-breaking bugs compared to many major releases. It certainly hasn’t been without flaw, however, and the continued work on the game could help it realize the full extent of its potential.
The first patch forBlack Myth: Wukong, released ten days after the game’s launch, mostly focused on fixing pressing issues like crashes, text errors, and bugs directly related to the Destined One’s gameplay. It also set a minor precedent for difficulty adjustments, tweaking the stats of Captain Wise-Voice, a boss that could feel overlong and frustrating at launch rather than providing a thrilling challenge. It doesn’t seem likely that patches will be making dramatic overhauls to the game for the time being, but a strong lineup of minor changes can still significantly improve the experience.

Black Myth Wukong’s New Update Aids The Destined One
One Of The Toughest Trials Is Now Easier
TheBlack Myth: Wukongpatch change that might come as the biggest relief is an “improved” fight with the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master, mentioned in the patch notes available onSteam. As the final boss of Chapter Four, the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master might be the hardest challenge in the game up to that point, and surviving his brutal final phase was a nightmare without first acquiring a usefulitem found in the chapter’s secret area.
The new patch notes warn of potential compatibility issues with pre-installed mods, recommending that players uninstall them and verify the integrity of the game files on Steam before re-installing.

The notes forBlack Myth: Wukong’s new patch don’t specify the nature of the improvement, butit seems to be a hitbox adjustment that could soothe some of the biggest frustrations with the fight. A video of the post-patch fight from Bilibili userComet夜瞳shows the Destined One’s staff connecting more consistently with the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master’s legs, which were previously easy to miss even when the Destined One was in a good position. The fight is still tough, as it should be, but the change should make it feel fairer than before.
10 Hardest Bosses In Black Myth: Wukong, Ranked By Difficulty
The most challenging encounters in Black Myth: Wukong can cause a problem for anyone, and a few are uniquely punishing in memorable ways.
Black Myth: Wukong’s new patch also buffs a bit of the Destined One’s equipment, opening up a couple of improved opportunities for mid-game builds. The Spikeshaft Staff now boosts the Destined One’s maximum mana by 30, and the Insect armor set “considerably increases” how long medicine effects last. A relic perk that narrows deflection timing in exchange for reduced spell cost upon successful parries is also more generous with timing now, making it a less risky upgrade pick.

Bug Fixes Smooth Over Black Myth: Wukong Problems
A More Immersive Experience Lies Ahead
Only some of the newBlack Myth: Wukongbug fixes work in the Destined One’s favor, but they should all effectively increase immersion. Both enemies and the Destined One are less likely to get stuck or thrown out of boss fight bounds now, and some bugs that made it impossible to defeat enemies before have been addressed. The same goes for situations that made it possible to maintain theRing of Fire spell effector the perk of an Immobilize damage buff for longer than intended.
Like the first patch,Black Myth: Wukong’s second update makes some general fixes to crashes and translations, notably fixing long-standing issues with the Turkish language version of the game that were previously noted as known problems. An issue that could previously 100% achievement completion has also been addressed. One other nice change is that upgrading armor sets in repeat playthroughs will now be easier than before, as it’s possible to purchase Fine Gold Thread from the Yin Tiger in a New Cycle (new game plus) playthrough.

Black Myth: Wukong New Game Plus - Everything That Carries Over & Changes
Black Myth: Wukong’s New Game Plus mode, also known as a New Cycle, allows players to carry over a lot of their progress and adds in new features.
Black Myth: Wukong’s new changes aren’t likely to radically alter anyone’s experience with the game, but they could definitely eliminate some hassle, especially when it comes to the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master fight. It’s nice to see a good game getting better, and the lessons that GameScience is learning in the post-launch period could pave the way for the studio’s future titles to raise the bar again.
Editor’s Note: The studio behindBlack Myth: Wukong, GameScience, has previously been accused of fostering a toxic environment for its workers. The 2023 allegations include sexualized comments against women, misogyny, fatphobia, and more. More details can be foundhere.
