WhileMarvelComics is filled with caped crusaders, mutant freedom fighters, and masters of the magical arts, it severely lacks the presence ofGodzilla-like kaiju. That said, there are some hidden gems of gigantic monsters sprinkled across the Marvel multiverse. With the company embracing more franchise crossovers, it’s about time for Marvel to create a proper Godzilla vs. Marvel series.
I’ve been saying for years that Marvel needs to invest more in their more monstrous characters. This last year has beengreat for more classic movie-monstersthrough series likeWerewolf by NightandIncredible Hulk, but its larger beasts have often been neglected.

Likewise, Marvel has recently invested in more crossover series likeAliens vs. AvengersandUltraman x The Avengers. In both cases, Marvel has proven there’s a place for the King of the Monsters to clash against its larger creatures. Fortunately, while there aren’t many, these five Marvel heroes would make perfect opponentsfor a future crossover with Godzilla.
The King of Monsters Already Has One Major Marvel Equivalent
Marvel’s Few Kaiju Deserve Their Chance to Shine
In August 2024, Marvel released a series ofGodzilla crossover variant covers, pitting Marvel’s mightiest against various incarnations of the King of All Kaiju. The fifteen variant cover collection grabbed the attention of many fans, showing their extreme interest to see a fully fleshed out series in the future. While heroes from Iron Man to the Scarlet Witch would certainly make okay opponents for Godzilla, Marvel’s secretcatalog of massive monsterscould make for more explosivematches of epic proportions.
Godzilla Cover Art Pays The Perfect Homage to Spider-Man’s First Comic Appearance
An unused cover for Tom Scioli’s Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theater shows off a unique homage to Spider-Man’s first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15…
The first, and most obvious, Marvel hero whose physical form is strikingly similar to Godzilla’s is the American Kaiju. Another disastrous result from an attempt to recreatethe original Super-Soldier Serum, Corporal Tod Ziller was dosed with a potent mix of gamma energy, Pym Particles, and Curt Connors’s Lizard formula. The ultra-patriotic marine wastransformed into a Godzilla-esque beastthat towers over buildings, nearly identical in build to the famed King of Kaiju. Unlike many of Marvel’s monstrous heroes,Ziller always remains in his kaiju form, allowing him to immediately respond to Godzilla’s frequently sudden appearances.

Not Every Monster Begins as a Monster
No Marvel kaiju clash would be complete without Kid Kaiju.
No Marvel kaiju clash would be complete without Kid Kaiju. Kei Kawade has the miraculous power to draw monsters andsummon them into the real world.Sometimes these are existing creatures, like Fin Fang Foom, plucked from across space. After training his skills, Kawade now has a small team of multi-meter-high monsters, each with varying powers.Kid Kaiju’s roster of monsterswould fight ina tag-team brawl against Godzilla, however, it may not be enough to take down the king. If faced with a tenacious enough iteration, like Shin, Godzilla’s endurance would be difficult to overcome.
The next potential contender to throw hands with the scaled behemoth is a new, and morally questionable hero, Hallows’ Eve. Empowered by Madelyne Pryor with the powers of Limbo, Godbe can summon Halloween masks thatimbue her with the powers of their visage. One of her masks quite literally transforms the anti-hero into Godzilla himself.Hallows’ Eve’s potent magical powers, perfectly mimicking her opponents' traits, would make her an even match against Godzilla. Although, while her powers may be identical, she doesn’t naturally inherit experience.

Like Godzilla, Many of Marvel’s Monsters Are Morally Questionable
Any Monster Can Be a Hero Against the Right Opponent
While I wouldn’t categorize this monster as a hero, it can be weaponized for heroic purposes. Popularly known as Moby Dick, Giganto is a colossal behemoth used by Atlantis asa “final resort” weapon.Previously, Namor has summoned the whale-like beast to lay waste to the surface world. However, if weaponized correctly, Giganto would becomethe perfect opponent for a Godzilla clash. The oceanic beast would be able to combat Godzilla both undersea and on land, something many of the king’s opponents are unable to do. It makes sense thatGodzilla would first encounter Atlantisto begin his apocalyptic rampage.
Godzilla Is Gearing Up for a Hit New Story That Will Kick Off on Free Comic Book Day
A exciting new era begins for the King of the Monsters as fans get their first details on Godzilla: The New Heroes Free Comic Book Day 2025.
My last pick for a future crossover between Godzilla and Marvel’s small collection of kaiju is none other than Fin Fang Foom. Just like Godzilla’s iconic rival, King Ghidorah,Fin Fang Foom is an alien creaturewho only looks like a dragon. With theability to absorb and convert energy, Godzilla’satomic breath would mean nothingagainst this Marvel titan. Additionally, the morally questionable space-monster, upon death, may release his spirit and possess that of another, transforming Godzilla into his next monstrous body.

Godzilla vs. MarvelNeeds to Be the Publisher’s Next Crossover Series
Marvel Has Already Proven That Crossovers Succeed Every Time
Marvel underutilizes its largest characters, designating them as occasional spectacles more often than viable sources of future stories. Alongside a much needed Godzilla crossover series, these picks would result in a disastrous clash. Marvel’s already proven thatfans love its crossover series, especially when the series embraces the crossover content’s original style. Whether it be his original puffy form or his otherworldly variations, Godzilla will always be an entertaining addition to any story. While we may not see it anytime soon, hopefully, fans may seeGodzillavs. Marvelas a future miniseries, featuring some of these monstrous Marvel heroes.
