Star Wars’massive new announcement seemingly just confirmed thatAsajj Ventresswas part ofthe Jedi “Hidden Path"seen inObi-Wan Kenobi. Catching essentially everyone by surprise,Star Warsjust announced a brand-new show,Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, will be coming on July 22, 2025. This new show will focus on two distinct arcs, one involving Cad Bane, and one involving Asajj Ventress.

This story is following on the heels ofVentress' return inStar Wars: The Bad Batch. The Bad Batchindicated Ventress is now on the light side of the Force, given her new yellow lightsaber—which, based onlightsaber colors and their meanings inStar Wars, heavily hints she has changed sides.Tales of the Underworldis perfectly primed to take this story so much further, byconfirming that Ventress became part of the Hidden Path, which shuttled Force-sensitive beings and Jedi survivors of Order 66 to safety during the Dark Times.

“Quinlan Was Here” text on the wall in Obi-Wan Kenobi

We Know Quinlan Vos, Ventress' Lover, Was Part Of The Hidden Path

Obi-Wan Kenobi Dropped This Major Reveal

TheObi-Wan Kenobishow confirmed not only that the Hidden Path was in full operation 10 years afterStar Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, but also that JediQuinlan Vos was working with these Jedi. Obi-Wan found Vos' name carved into a wall in one of the hiding places for the Hidden Path—a name that Obi-Wan recognized, as the two had gone on missions together in the Jedi Order. What may be lesser known is that Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress actually had a romantic relationship.

The canonStar Warsnovel,Star Wars: Dark Disciple, written by Christie Golden, confirmed that Ventress and Vos worked together on a mission to assassinate Count Dooku, commissioned by the Jedi Council themselves. In addition to introducing a whole host of complicated questions about what this means for the Jedi way and the culpability of the Jedi in some events that transpired during this point intheStar Warstimeline, the novel shockingly confirmed that, on their mission, Ventress and Vos fell for one another.

Purchase Star Wars: Dark Disciple

While it’s not clear what Vos and Ventress' relationship may have become since then—especially because Ventress actually died at the end ofDark Disciple—it’s certainly possible that Ventress and Vos linked up again following the events of Order 66, perhaps even through work on the Hidden Path. Presumably,Tales of the Underworldwill reveal how Ventress essentially came back from the dead. The trailer forTales of the Underworldgives another major hint that the Hidden Path will be part of this story as well.

Tales Of The Underworld Shows Ventress With A Jedi Youngling

Ventress Seems To Be Protecting This Youngling

In addition to this Quinlan Vos connection, theTales of the Underworldtrailer shows Ventress protecting what seems to be a Jedi youngling. Specifically, Ventress faces off against one ofDarth Vader’s Imperial Inquisitors, putting the youngling behind her. As it was the mission of the Inquisitors to hunt down and destroy anysurvivors of Order 66and Force-sensitive beings, and the Hidden Path was actively protecting people from that, this certainly suggests Ventress has become part of this operation.

Holy Crap, Asajj Ventress Taking On An Inquisitor Is A Star Wars Match-Up I’ve Only Dreamed Of

Star Wars just shocked us by dropping an announcement for a brand-new TV show, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, confirming a major return.

This connects to Ventress' appearance inThe Bad Batchseason 3 as well, given Ventress appears to test Omega’s potential Force-sensitivity.Even the fact that Ventress would have potentially Force-sensitive kids on her radar suggests that she had begun to play this role at some point during the Dark Times. Taken together, I’m fully convinced that Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress are working together on the Hidden Path.

I Totally Think Ventress & Vos Are Part Of The Hidden Path

I Am Begging Disney Star Wars To Tell This Story

AlthoughDark Discipleis canon,Vos and Ventress' relationship hasn’t been shown on screen inStar Wars, and I’m desperate for that to change. I actually believe Ventress and Vos to be amongStar Wars’best relationships, in large part because they bridge the light and the dark side in complex and fascinating ways. Getting to see them come back together (and be shown on screen together for the first time), particularly to do something so heroic, would be a dream.

I also simply want this redemption arc for Ventress. I don’t think everyStar Warscharacter needs to be redeemed, and the franchise has arguably focused a bit too much on villains getting a complicated backstory or ultimately returning to the light of late. However, Ventress' story has been complicated from the very beginning, with her moving between the light and the dark side more than once. After all, she was first sold into slavery by her own people, the Nightsisters of Dathomir, and she went on to be trained by a Jedi before he died.

Although she then worked for Count Dooku as his assassin, and was clearly on the dark side of the Force, even by the end ofThe Clone Wars, Ventress had seemingly drawn closer to the light. Not only was she no longer working with Count Dooku, but also, she helped Ahsoka Tano when she was on the run after being falsely accused of murder. WithObi-Wan Kenobiconfirming that the Hidden Path was underway and involved Ventress' lover Quinlan Vos, this possible story update inTales of the Underworldwould be a brilliant next step forAsajj Ventress.
