Although it has yet to have its full release,Valheimis one of those indie games that looks like it could reshape a genre. It is also an indie game that has been in early access for so long that it has built up its own community as if it was a fully released game that has been around for years, but Iron Gate Studio has yet to finish its work on the title. After releasing the Ashlands, there is only one major biome left to add to the game: the Deep North.

Valheimis now closer than ever to its 1.0 version, having been in its early access state for well over three years and a full release in 2025 seems more than likely. The game already has possibly hundreds of hours of content with varied building tools and plenty of deadly biomes to explore. It is set to be one of the best survival games around, and while it won’t challengeMinecraft’s monopoly on the genre, because nothing probably will, it has already started to carve out its own, respectable section in the playerbase.

The Deep North Could Be Added To Valheim Soon

Iron Gate Studio Has Made It The Priority

Iron Gate Studio has kept its audience updated on its progress onValheimwith occasional blog posts. The latest blogpost on theValheimwebsite reveals where Iron Gate is focusing its efforts after its Bog Witch update, which went back to adding enemies to the Swamp Biome. Currently, the studio has focused all its efforts on the Deep North biome and allowingValheimto finally shed its early access status with a 1.0 release, although Iron Gate has stated that it still has some ways to go before that.

Iron Gate releases both news and patch notes via its blog posts, typically releasing several posts a month.

Outside the Deep North biome,Iron Gate has stated that it wishes to do some work on earlier biomes to help make the 1.0 version of the game a complete package. This work could be similar toValheim’s Bog Witch update, and will likely also include bug fixing for new additions. The studio has stated that the Deep North update will mark Valheimending its time in early access, and that means the studio will have to make the game a complete package while adding a new biome.

The Aurora Borealis Could Make The Deep North The Best-Looking Biome

It Will Be Different To The Mountain Biome

Not a lot isknown about the Deep North, but Iron Gate has shared a screenshot of the biome in its latest blog post, showing off the Aurora Borealis behind Yggdrasil. The studio has stated that it will continue to share screenshots of the biome as work resumes, and the current screenshot could mean that the Deep North ends up as the best looking biome inValheim. The Aurora Borealis will certainly help the Deep North be different to the Mountain biome, which is also known for its snow and cold.

The Mountain biome requires either cold resistant armor, like the Wolf Armor, or Frost Resistant Mead.

The Deep North will, unsurprisingly, be in the northernmost part of the map. This makes it as far away from the Ashlands' location as possibleand will probablyact as the Ashlands' opposite, trading fiery pits of death for plains of snow, which the developers have stated will sometimes look like a Christmas Card in a stream with The Spill (viaIron Gate’s YouTube channel). Although nothing big has been revealed yet, as the Deep North is still in pre-production as of writing, with its Norse setting,Valheimcould end up adding Ice Giants.

Valheim 1.0 Is Iron Gate’s Focus

After All These Years, Valheim Will Get A Full Release

There was a fear in the community thatValheimwas going to be one of those early access games that never got a full release, similar to the reputation thatDayZhad due to its five-year early access. Iron Gate has assured its players thatValheimis on the road to being a full game, and the recent updates for the Deep North are proof of this. Although the studio has shown off very little other than the Aurora Borealis screenshot, it does show that Iron Gate has a clear idea in mind for the biome.

Valheim Announces Bog Witch Update With New Features & Cooking Overhaul

Valheim is getting a whole lot spookier, as the latest update introduces The Bog Witch alongside an updated cooking system for massive feasts.

With Iron Gate Studio talking so openly about the Deep North and the 1.0 version of the game, it is an exciting time forValheim. With the Deep North trading the Ashlands' fiery pits for Christmas card-like visuals, it could mean that players will get the proper Norse Viking experience with snow, deadly enemies, and unrelenting winters. Even aside from this, the place will at least be a visual treat with its Aurora Borealis and could be the best looking biome yet.
