Unstablewas something of an unlikely hit after it debuted in 2023, and it was able to score a season 2 renewal amidthe turmoil of the Hollywood strikes. The sophomore outing was a continuation of the hilarious themes found in season 1, as Jackson and Ellis' tumultuous relationship took a new turn while maintaining the same devilishly co-dependent angle. With Ellis' legal troubles in the past, the narcissistic CEO has now set his sites on an even bigger prize: the Presidency of the United States of America. Unfortunately, this shocking twist will never be resolved because of its cancelation.

Though shows can sometimes bounce back via word-of-mouth,a returning series likeUnstableis expected to see growth from season to season. The likeliest culprit for the show’s demise was the long wait between seasons, and though some shows maintain an audience throughout a multi-year wait, a newcomer has little chance to keep viewers engaged. As it stands now, there’s no interest in shopping the series aroundto new homes, and it will likely stay that way forever.

The Father & Son Duo Would Have Returned
Since the show was built around their relationship,it’s likely that the father/son duo of Rob and John Owen Lowe would have reprised their rolesifUnstableseason 3 was renewed. Ellis and Jackson’s relationship was just starting to blossom beyond the original concept of the series, and another season was needed to see it flourish for better or worse. Other returns were less certain, but Sian Clifford’s Anna and Aaron Branch’s Malcolm also became integral parts of seasons 1 and 2. Both seasons have also added new characters, and season 3 probably wouldn’t have been any different.

However, Jackson was also trapped in the machinations of Georgia, and caught up in the genuine ambition of Peter. Having been passed over in favor of Peter,Jackson may have finally gotten the chance to leave the life his father wanted for him behind.
Meanwhile, Ellis continued his narcissistic ways andended season 2 by making the decision to run for the Presidency of the United States. Ellis' campaign would likely have taken up the bulk of season 3’s story, and he would probably have called on Jackson for support (both emotionally and as a campaign worker).
