The Sorcerer Supreme of Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe is the literal opposite ofDoctor Strange. Late last year, Marvel launched a new, modernized version of the Ultimate imprint, with fresh takes on icons such as Spider-Man and Black Panther. Now, in a first look atUltimate Black Panther#10,a new character debuts, one who may be the Sorcerer Supreme of this new Earth.
Marvelshared a first look at November’s Ultimate Universe titles, includingUltimate Black Panther#10. The book will be written by Brayn Hill and drawn by Stefano Caselli, who also provides the cover. Marvel’s solicitation for the issue reads:
The Black Panther and the Strange Doctor? A prison break brings unlikely aid to Wakanda, but is this new ally a reliable confidant? Or does the godly Moon Knight have more to offer?
While the listing does not specify if this new “Strange Doctor” actually is theSorcerer Supreme of the new Ultimate Earth, the name invokes Stephen Strange.
Furthermore, Marvel has not revealed if the new Ultimate Universe will even have a Sorcerer Supreme.

A Marvel Universe without a Sorcerer Supreme might seem odd, and even a little sacrilegious,but the publisher’s new Ultimate imprint has been subverting fan’s expectations since its launch in late 2023.The Maker, one of the last survivors of the previous incarnation of the Ultimate Universe, found a world in the multiverse he could remake to his liking–namely a world without heroes to foil his plans for conquest. Nevertheless, the Maker encountered opposition in the form of Howard Stark. Now his son Tony is leading a revolution against the Maker, who is currently imprisoned.
The Maker took a lot into account when shaping his perfect Earth, and it is possible he may have taken steps to bring the Sorcerer Supreme under his control.

A Sorcerer Supreme defends their world from magical threats, and the position carries a great deal of power. Magic is very much a part of the new Ultimate Marvel, as seen in each issue ofUltimate Black Panther,which would imply the existence of a Sorcerer Supreme. A Sorcerer Supreme Is the Maker’s Worst Nightmare
Another, even more chilling possibility is that the new Ultimate Earth may not even have a Sorcerer Supreme. The Maker may have compensated for the Sorcerer Supreme by ensuring the position never existed. Even so, magic is still something the Maker must contend with, and if the Strange Doctor is indeed the new Ultimate Sorcerer Supreme, it could pose a serious disruption to his plans. The name Strange Doctor is an inversion ofDoctor Strange, implying that ifthey are indeed the Sorcerer Supreme, they will be vastly different from anything fans have seen.
