Trigun Stargaze Teases a Bloody New Version of Vash
Vash the Stampede Carries a Lot On His Conscience
The new season,Stargaze, is said to be picking up about two and a half years after the first season. It was shown that Vash was suffering from amnesia in the ending of the first season, but regaining his memories is likely to be a very painful process for Vash. As a pacifist, Vash doesn’t kill, but the fallout of his battle with his brother Knives left the city of JuLai ravaged, with hundreds of thousands of people dead.Having that on his conscience is likely to change the character substantially, making him into the repentant figure that most fans are familiar with.
While the first season took some liberties with the story, moving certain events around to occur much earlier and even creating an original character out of scratch in the form of Meryl’s mentor, Roberto,Stargazeis looking like it might adapt events from the manga more directly, as the destruction of JuLai takes place before most of the manga. It’s known thatStargazewill also be introducing Milly Thompson, a beloved character who was absent in the first season, as a partner to Meryl, as she was in the original 1998 anime.
Trigun Stargaze May Take a Darker Turn
The New Series Could Be Darker than its Madcap Predecessor
With a more morose Vash who’s carrying a guilty conscience, the tone ofStargazecould be quite different fromStampede.Trigun Stampedestarted out fairly light and only grew darker as the story continued, but Vash’s situation could lead to a dark start. Of course, the series will still have the insane action that it was known for, as well as plenty of comedic moments, as Vash often plays dumb and pretends to be a happy-go-lucky sort of guy. It will be interesting to see how the story goes about getting Vash’s memory back, as exactly how that happens could change a lot.
WhileTrigun Stargazeis still a ways off, having a firm date is still a major development for fans, who can now start counting down the days to the series' return. With a two and a half year timeskip, the characters will likely look more like the designs that fans know from the manga and 1998 series. If the new season is anywhere near as good asTrigun Stampede, then fans are in for a real treat next year.
