Keanu Reeves' Constantine teams up with Tom Welling’s Superman fromSmallvillethrough newDCmultiverse artwork. Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe andthe DCEU movie timelinewere created, the 2000s had very few superhero properties on the big and small screens. While The WB (and later on The CW) told Clark Kent’s ultimate origin story throughSmallville, Reeves portrayed the first live-action version of Constantine in 2005 in his own solo movie that has become a cult classic.

With the potential ofSmallvillecoming back in the form of an animated sequel series, andConstantine 2being in development, the 2000s era of superheroes is potentially getting a big spotlight in the current period. To show what it would look like if Welling’s Superman and Reeves' Constantine were to join forces,Buffy2Villeshared new DC artwork where the two worlds come together. Check it out below:

What Tom Welling’s Superman & Keanu Reeves' Constantine Team-Up Art Means For DC’s Live-Action Legacy

Even though their DC franchises were always kept separate, the fact that fans would even want to seeSmallvilleand Constantine cross paths after all these decadesshowcases just how important both of these properties were back then and remain today. Back when studios were not even willing to invest in something like a shared superhero cinematic universe, movies and shows likeConstantineandSmallvillewere some of the handful of comic book adaptations that were available. InSmallville’scase, had it not been for that show’s success, something likethe Arrowverse franchisewould never have even happened on The CW.

While Constantine made his debut in Welling’s universe during theSmallvilleseason 11comic,it would be huge if Reeves' version of the Hellblazer was the one that the Man of Steel was to share the screen with down the line. IfConstantine 2ends up going forward, along with Welling’sSmallvillerevival - that he is developing with co-star Michael Rosenbaum - and both of them are successful, there is no reason DC Studios couldn’t have the two properties do a special crossover. With both of them being under the Elseworlds banner, it wouldn’t conflict withJames Gunn’s new DC Universe.
