SHADE

TONE

This was the easiest part of the puzzle for me, as COLOR already had me thinking about concepts related to it.A color’s SHADE, HUE, and TONE are all descriptors used to define how it differs from other palettesone might use in a painting or other pieces of art. This natural relationship between all four words in this category made them naturally fit together for the right answer.

GLEN

HOLLOW

At first, I thought DALE and GLEN fit together already due to them being characters inThe Walking DeadTV and comic series. I didn’t realize they held a different meaning until I was searching for a group for HOLLOW. While looking up definitions, I saw thatHOLLOW was a term used to describe a valleylandscape, which made me go back and realize that GLEN was used similarly with DALE and GLEN.

MARLEY

ROSS

Considering the theme of colors in other categories, Bob ROSS was already on my mind going into this section of today’s puzzle. SinceMARLEY stands for Bob Marley and HOPE represents Bob Hope, it was easy to follow the same convention to find references to other famous Bobs. With Bob DOLE as the final piece, this part of the puzzle wasn’t too hard to figure out.

GENRE

LUBE

This part of the puzzle didn’t make much sense to me at first, as I was not aware words like GENRE or GARY could be used as color anagrams. That being said, I was curious to see what definitions GARY had outside of being used as a name. From previous categories debunking names as their own section, I was able to discover thatDRE, GENRE, and even LUBE were all related to colors, and add GARY within the same context.
