In Diego’s team-up fight scene with Luther at the CIA inThe Umbrella Academyseason 4, episode 5, “Six Years, Five Months, and Two Days,” David Castañeda’s character launches a plant pot at one of the charging, hostile agents. In any of the previous three seasons of the show, Diego’s projectile would have hit home, at least injuring his opponent. In the final season,Diego’s restored powers don’t seem to be reliable at this particular moment. The pot smashes on a pillar where the agent had just been, but near misses just aren’t supposed to be possible for Diego Hargreeves.
To make matters worse, Luther hurls a filing cabinet in the next shot with pinpoint accuracy. While this is largely a demonstration of his super-strength, it makes Diego’s miss seem even worse.

The blade’s trajectory even curves unnaturally in the air as it travels, proving Diego can still manipulate projectiles after they leave his hand.

While consuming the Marigold and regaining their powers made them unwell for a short time,Diego and the others did return to their superpowered states. InThe Umbrella Academyseason 4, episode 2, “Jean and Gene,” the opening montage establishes this by showing their abilities returning. Diego is among this collection of footage, revealing him throwing letters and packages from his delivery van while driving and having them all land perfectly in the letterboxes on his route.
It could be that Diego’s accuracy is a little inconsistent since he regained his powers, butthe fight scene with Luther at the CIA is the only instance where he falters. As such, it would seem like a bit of a generous explanation to claim Diego’s powers aren’t as potent in season 4 as they are in previous seasons. What’s more likely is that perhaps the choreographers wanted to extend the fight scene at the CIA by having Diego miss with the plant pot. Alternatively, they may have just briefly forgotten what he can do.

For instance,Viktor appears to retain his immense power, but how he distributes it has changed slightly.Klaus remains immortal but is also suddenly able to fly- the latter of which is addressed very rarely.
