The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Skipped The Hargreeves’ Dance Scene Tradition

The Umbrella Academyalso relied heavily on music, with songs with lyrics that fit specific scenes and more, and through music, a Hargreeves tradition was established in the first season.

The Umbrella Academywas packed with action and drama, and though the Hargreeves struggled to rebuild their relationship and trust each other again, they shared some fun moments throughout the series. The Umbrella Academyalso relied heavily on music, with songs with lyrics that fit specific scenes, themes, and more, and through music, a Hargreeves tradition was established in the first season. The Umbrella Academyseason 1 saw the Hargreeves reuniting after years apart, and their relationship wasn’t the best. At one point, each Hargreeves sibling (except Five, who hadn’t returned yet) was in a different part of the mansion.Allison was in her old room and found a record player, so she put some music on.As Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now” played across the mansion, each sibling felt the music in their own way, and they all started dancing.Season 2 carried on with this, though only with Klaus, Allison, and Viktor. While at the hair salon where Allison worked (back in the 1960s), Klaus, Viktor, and Allison were bonding after Viktor dealt with amnesia for years.

In the first episode of season 3, after meeting the Sparrow Academy, Marcus challenged them to a dance-off to Kenny Loggins’ “Footloose.”

The three siblings danced to Sam Cooke’s “Twistin’ the Night Away”, but the rest of the Umbrellas didn’t get their dance scene. The Umbrella Academymade up for that in the first episode of season 3, where, after meeting the Sparrow Academy, Marcus challenged them to a dance-off to Kenny Loggins’ “Footloose”.Both teams joined and they all knew the choreography, and that’s because it was all an illusion Diego had after Jayme spit her hallucinogenic venom on his face. Sadly,The Umbrella Academyseason 4 completely skipped this tradition, and the siblings didn’t share any dance scenes.

The only one to get a dance scene was Luther, in his stripper routine, but that might not count for everyone.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Gave Gene & Jean A Dance Scene (& It’s Fitting)

Gene & Jean Got Their Own, Weird Dance Scene

The only dance scene inThe Umbrella Academyseason 4 was given to antagonistsGene (Nick Offerman) and Jean (Megan Mullally), the leaders of The Keepers. This was an organization that was convinced that the timeline they lived in was wrong and a massive apocalyptic event known as “The Cleanse” would wipe the broken timelines and fix the main timeline. Gene and Jean knew that Jennifer was key to the Cleanse, and they took her to their farm. There, they showed her some of their evidence of other timelines, including the squid Jennifer was found in when she was a child.

Gene and Jean had their musical moment with Cher’s “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves.”

Gene and Jean locked Jennifer up in the barn where they kept these objects, andwhile Ben snuck into the farm at night, Gene and Jean were upstairs, dancing. Gene and Jean had their musical moment with Cher’s “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves”, and it was as weird but funny as Gene and Jean themselves. Gene and Jean getting season 4’s dance scene instead of the Hargreeves is surprisingly fitting asthey were in a broken timeline, so it’s funny that even that happened differentlyin this timeline.

The Umbrella Academyseason 4 didn’t have a Hagreeves dance scene, but it did have a heartwarming callback to the one in the first season. The Umbrella Academyends with a look at the fixed main timeline, with Diego and Lila’s family and Allison’s daughter alive and well and characters from past seasons living different but normal and happy lives. This scene is accompanied by Tommy James & The Shindells’ “I Think We’re Alone Now”, the original version of the song the Hargreeves danced to in season 1, which is fitting as the main timeline is also a different version of what was known before.

The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic book of the same name created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. The Hargreeves — collectively known as The Umbrella Academy — were born with superpowers, and their adoptive father utilized their abilities. However, as they grew older, the siblings grew apart as they dealt with their trauma. They are brought back together after their father dies and Five returns from the future with grave news: The world will end, and The Umbrella Academy has to stop it before it happens.
