Figuring out where to live is something all new couples do, includingChock Chapple and Joan Vassos, who have been busy trying to integrate their livessince getting engaged on the first season ofThe Golden Bachelorette.The couple has been spending as much time together as they can, which is difficult considering Joan lives in Washington, DC, and Chock calls Wichita, Kansas, home. We watched their love story develop onThe Golden Bacheloretteseason 1, and as they prepare to get married, they still need to figure out a big piece, which is where they will live.
Chock has a special love for his hometown, and I think this meanshe is hoping Joan will relocatethere eventually, despiteboth claiming they want to move to New York City. Chock recently did a Q&A on Instagram, answering fan questions. When asked what he loved about Wichita, Chock made sure to sing its praises—and to include girlfriend Joan’s favorite things about the city as well, perhaps in anattempt to sell Joan on the ideaof living in the Midwest.

Joan Loves The Massages And Food (According To Chock)
When asked for a “hot take” on Wichita,Chockreplied with a dad joke and said it’s very cold. He then espoused some of the perks of Wichita life. The city is super affordable, and you can even get a full, 60-minute massage for $40.
“It’s a great city, it’s a great place to raise your kids, grow a family. The cost of living is incredible. I took Joan, when she was in town, to a place called the Chinese Foot Massage and it was $40 for an hour and she fell in love with it. She goes, ‘I’m coming back every week.’ So she got a foot massage and a back massage for a full 60 minutes, not 50 minutes, for $40 plus tip, so she was hooked.”
Chock also filled fans in on Joan’s order at his favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town, Saigon. Spoiler alert: she gets a pork dish. But all in all,Chock seems very attached to Wichita, which may make things difficult when it comes to actually getting married.
“What keeps me in this town is… [is] it’s really great people, great foundation and I really enjoy it. But I’m fortunate where I get to travel a lot, but love Wichita and it’s been good to me.”

Joan and Chock made fans swoon when they revealed their plans to move and start a new life together in NYC during theAfter The Final Rosespecial. Joan toldUS Weekly,“We have this really fun plan because both of us have always dreamed—and we’re finally at this weird stage in life for making this dream come true—that we live in a big city, and, specifically, we’ve always wanted to live in New York. So Chock surprised me and said, ‘I want us to go find a place.'”
Joan and Chock have never officially deviated from that plan, butthey haven’t found a place in NYC yet, and with all of their post-show commitments, they haven’t made much progress either. Many place the blame onChock, who doesn’t seem as interestedin moving to the Big Apple as Joan. Whether or notJoan and Chock make the moveremains to be seen.

Chock showed her all the sights of his favorite city.He loves having her in his world, taking her to his favorite places like the aforementioned Saigon restaurant and Cocoa Dolce, a lounge for chocolate lovers, and having her meet his friends.

And Wichita loves having Joan and Chock as their most famous residents. The couple recently appeared on the cover of a local Wichita magazine calledSplurge!, with the cover text, “Wichita’s ‘Golden Couple’.” In the story, Chock said it was important for him to show Joan his life in Kansas.
“I wanted Joan to come back and meet my friends and go out and have dinner and have fun and show her my house and the world’s largest sock collection. We are eating and drinking our way through Wichita.”

Joan’s reasons for living in her hometown are standard, as she has kids and grandkids close by, but she’s willing to make the move for Chock. Flights from NYC to DC are only a little over an hour, so in any case, she’s still relatively close. In Chock’s case, he said that his family no longer lives in Wichita. His closest relative is his dad, who lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, about two-and-a-half hours away.
Still,Chock is comfortable in Wichita, having lived there his whole life. He’s built a business out there, Insurance Services Group, andChock has established himselfin the community.Chock seems to have an amazing lifein Wichita, with a fancy man cave, a boat, and two homes, so he might not want to give all that up to start over in NYC and feels it would be easier if Joan just gave up her life to join his. This could spell trouble in the future forTheGolden Bachelorettesuccess story.
