Brett Goldstein played the foul-mouthed Roy KentinTed Lassofor 3 seasons, and he quickly became a fan favorite. However, Goldstein’sTed Lassojourney started well before bringing Roy Kent to the screen.Goldstein worked as one of the writers while the show was being developedand eventually pitched himself for the role. IfTed Lassoreturns for season 4, it’s possible that audiences will see the former football star as the head coach of AFC Richmond.
Goldstein brings a tragic drama toShrinking, and it’s interesting to see him play a far cry from the gruff but lovable Roy.

Hannah Waddingham gave consistently moving performances asAFC Richmond owner Rebecca WeltoninTed Lasso, so it’s not surprising her talents were used in other projects. InTed Lasso,Rebecca had an amazing story arc that really showed her finding herself and becoming the leader that the team deserved. Not only that, but Waddingham was able to show off her incredible singing skills on multiple occasions, making for some of the most iconicTed Lassomoments in the entire show.
Despite playing the fabulous Rebecca Welton onTed Lasso, Waddingham is also very recognizable from her role inGame of Thronesseasons 5 and 6. In the acclaimed show, she portrayed Septa Unella, one of the Most Devout. While playing Unella,Waddingham is most remembered for repeatedly yelling“Shame”during Cersei Lannister’s walk of atonement.The moment has followed Waddingham throughout her career, and has been held up as seen as one of her most memorable on the long-running HBO series.

InTed Lasso,Nathan started as a shy kit man for AFC Richmond, where despite his brilliant ideas, he was bullied by team members,most notably Jaime Tartt. Nathan eventually gets promoted to assistant coach, but his darker emotions curdled throughout an impressive performance. Though Nathan was largely an antagonist inTed Lassoseason 3,Nathan’s redemption archighlighted Mohammed’s skills.

Ted Lasso season 3 was far from perfect, but the cutting of some crucial Nate scenes didn’t leave the character in a satisfying spot for the finale.
Before appearing onTed Lasso,Nick Mohammed portrayed Tim Grimes, a JPL engineer inThe Martian.While Grimes was more of a supporting character, he was the person working when NASA first received communication from Matt Damon’s Mark Watney. Grimes is quick to point out that answering yes and no questions is not practical long-term. However, Grimes is the one to decode that Watney was using hexadecimal, which eventually led to increased communication between NASA and Watney who was stranded on Mars. Mohammed gives the character a grounded aspect that amplifies the character.

Juno Temple portrayedKeeley Jones inTed Lassoand was one of the show’s most dynamic characters. From the very beginning, Keeley was inquisitive and positive, something that would continue on throughout the show. It was great seeingKeeley step into her own and realize she didn’t need a partner to be happy.Despite her independence, she always supported her former partners Roy and Jaime. In theTed Lassoseason 3 finale, Keeleywas seen running her newly revamped PR firm alongside Barbara.
Juno Temple has found a lot of success sinceTed Lasso, including inFargoseason 5. For the season,Temple adopted a North Dakotan accent for her role as Dorothy “Dot” Lyon. A quietly dangerous figure, Dot proved to be one of the anthology show’s best characters. Dot was a compelling and mysterious figure, all while retaining a sense of likability. For her performance, Temple was been nominated for a Golden Globe, an Emmy, and a Critic’s Choice Award, highlighting her impressive talents.

Rupert was the former owner of AFC Richmond, but after getting caught cheating on Rebecca, they divorced and she received the team. Rupert seemingly never changed and was seen cheating on his new wife inTed Lassoseason 3. Karma would eventually catch up with him after his cheating scandal was revealed in thefinal episodes ofTed Lassoseason 3.

Phil Dunster portrays the dynamic and incredibly talentedJaime Tartt inTed Lasso. Dunster’s portrayal of the young footballer is wonderful andJaime’s evolution as a character is some of the show’s best storytelling.Not only do audiences get to see Jaime grow up, but it also see him become a better person, teammate, and leader. Hisrelationship with Brett Goldstein’s Roy Kent inTed Lassoseason 3 is one of the best and most comedic performances in the show.
In the 2017 adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel,Phil Dunster has a small role as Colonel John Armstrong inMurder on the Orient Express.The mystery follows Hercule Poirot as he tries to uncover who killed John Cassetti, the man responsible for the murder of young Daisy Armstrong. Dunster’s role in the film is a minor but important one, as his clear grief and tragic fate play an important role in the story. While Dunster’s role isn’t large, it’s impressive to see him hold his own in a film with such an impressive cast.

Sam Richardson had a memorable role inTed Lassoportraying the Ghanaian billionaire Edwin Akufo. Though the character only appeared in three episodes,Richardson’s portrayal and physical comedy definitely made him memorableand worthy of his return inTed Lassoseason 3. For his performance,Sam Richardsonwas nominated twice for an Emmy, which he won in 2023 for the episode “International Break.” While Edwin Akufo may not return ifTed Lassodoes for season 4, an appearance wouldn’t be unwelcome.

Richardson had also found success in other comedies, especially HBO’sVeep.Beginning inVeepseason 3, Richardson appeared as Richard Splett. A political aide, Splett is an often cheerful butt of the joke because of his occasional incompetence at his job. This highlighted Richardson’s skills with comedy. His true potential comes to the forefront when he starts his political career and quickly becomes the Lieutenant Governor of Iowa in season 7, even eventually becoming a successful two-term president. It’s a memorable showcase of the versatility Richardson brings to his comedies.

Toheeb Jimoh is best known for playing the heart-of-gold footballerSam Obisanya inTed Lasso. Over the course of the show, Sam’s role grew, just as his character did.Sam grew into being a leader on the Greyhoundsand even stood up against British government officials when they were being openly xenophobic. It was a likable performance from Jimoh that consistently hinted at a deeper wealth of personality.
While Toheeb Jimoh doesn’t have many other acting roles onscreen outside ofTed Lasso, it’s clear the actor has a bright future. Since Ted Lasso, he appeared in the Prime Video series The Power as Tunde. A journalist from Nigeria, Jimoh highlights the actor’s natural charms from a very different perspective than Ted Lasso. It’s a minor but memorable appearance, the actor alongside his memorable turn inTed Lasso.
