I’m in. I’m there. They are some of the greatest loves of my life. That cast and the writers are so magnificent. You’d be stupid not to, you know? So, yeah, I’m totally there. Are we gonna be there? I don’t know.

When asked if there is a script yet, Waddingham replied, “Of course there’s no script.”

What Hannah Waddingham’s Comments Mean For Ted Lasso Season 4

A Lot Needs To Happen Before Season 4 Is Confirmed

The Rebecca actor’s response comes after areport stating thatWaddingham, Goldstein, and Swift had been securedto reprise theircharacters inTed Lassoseason 4.The next move for the studio was to begin reaching out to other cast members with SAG-AFTRA contracts whose options had expired, including co-creators/executive producers Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), as well as Juno Temple (Keely Jones). Reportedly, Phil Dunster (Jamie Tart) has not been picked up due to a conflict with another series, as he is in Apple TV+’sSurfaceand Prime Video’sThe Devil’s Hour.

Although Jason Sudeikis' option forTed Lassohas expired, he starred opposite Lionel Messi in the soccer-themed Michelob ULTRA Super Bowl commercial “Superior Beach” in 2024, which referenced the popular show.

The budget needs to be approved, schedules need to be worked out for actors in other shows, and a writers' room needs to be locked down. If all goes well, though, production is reportedly penciled in for early 2025. But with Waddingham’s new comments in mind, it seems like the studio has a long way to go before production can get started.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Needs To Strike While The Iron Is Hot

Hannah Waddingham And Her Co-Stars Can’t Wait Forever

Although Hannah Waddingham has expressed her eagerness to return to the role of Rebecca, which won her an Emmy award in addition to two additional nominations, if the rest of the major creatives and the stars playing the remainingTed Lassocharactersare not brought on board relatively quickly, it seems unlikely that season 4 will actually come to fruition. This is becausethe success ofTed Lassois a double-edged sword. Its popularity has simultaneously led to demand for more episodes and springboarded its stars to further success outside of the show.

Hannah Waddingham was also nominated for two Golden Globes for her performance inTed Lasso.

Waddingham herselfhas taken on a large number of roles outside theTed Lassouniverse. In the 15 months since the end of season 3 alone, she has appeared in three episodes ofSex Educationseason 4, played fictional producer Gail Meyer in the Ryan Gosling action comedyThe Fall Guy, voiced the quirky Persian cat Jinx opposite Chris Pratt inThe Garfield Movie, and voiced Deliria as part of the main cast of the adult animated seriesKrapopolis. She is also set for roles in the upcoming 2025 titlesMission: Impossible 8andThe Smurfs Movie.

Because of the many opportunities she has been afforded, if season 4 takes long enough that cast commitments would need to be renewed,it remains to be seen if Waddingham would be available once moreshould her current option expire and need to be picked up again. Even if she would be willing to return to the role, it might not be in her power to make it happen, given the sheer amount of work that is already on her plate.

Our Take On Waddingham’s Comments

The Rebecca Actor Doesn’t Have An Update For Fans

Waddingham was emphatic that she has no new information regardingTed Lassoseason 4. She also conveyed that she would be enthusiastically on board with a new season. Even so, when asked for an update on the show, she didn’t have anything new to add, though that doesn’t mean she wasn’t secured for season 4 by Warner Bros. Television. Perhaps she was, but, besides that, the show hasn’t made great strides moving forward. Either way,it seems clear the actor doesn’t have any new informationfor hopefulTed Lassofans.
