This fun interaction is presumably a secret feature that was added in the 1.6 Update, especially since the majority of people commenting on the post weren’t aware of the decoration. It’s certainly a fun and inexpensive way to add some life to personal fish tanks, even if it does take away some space from the fishy inhabitants; it serves as a good excuse to invest in an even larger fish tank.

One of the best secrets inStardew Valley1.6 is a reference to fellow indie titanTerraria. A similar weapon can be obtained inTerraria, making for a fun in-joke between the two communities.
