Cal Kestis has appeared in bothFallen Orderand its sequel,Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and while these games are canon, he has yet to make the jump toStar Wars’movies and TV shows. Audiences have long hoped this announcement is coming, though, as Cal Kestis is easily one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.

Cal Kestis Is Rumored To Be Getting A Live-Action Debut

This is not the first time rumors about Cal Kestis' impending live-action debut have circulated in the franchise. No doubt because the character is so popular, this possibility has been a conversation for years. Recently, however, these rumors have been growing louder and more prevalent, and they have specifically begun to hone in on the likelihood that this live-action introduction would take place in a TV show featuring Cal Kestis as the lead.

This makes particular sense at the present moment, given that the list ofStar Wars’upcoming TV showsis as thin as it’s been in quite some time. Currently, onlyStar Wars: Skeleton Crew,Andorseason 2, andAhsokaseason 2 are confirmed. Star Wars Celebration 2025 is just around the corner, which will certainly see the announcement of multiple upcoming shows and movies. In light of how few shows are currently inStar Wars’official line-up, a Cal Kestis show could easily be among them.

A Beloved Character Could Unite The Fanbase

It is truly a shame, butStar Warshas undeniably been struggling as of late. The response toThe Acolytewas an excellent example of how divisive the fanbase has become, and while that stems from various issues (among them a permeating, recurrent issue with racism and misogyny in the fanbase), it doesn’t bode well for the future. There are of course many viewers who have lovedStar Wars’recent projects, for good reason, but it remains true that the franchise needs to do something to address how hostile things have become.

While this will undoubtedly also requireStar Warsto address its biggest problem—vitriol and toxicity that has overtaken the fanbase—bringing a character like Cal Kestis, who is nearly universally beloved, to live-action would be a brilliant way to get the franchise back on track. This could be a way to unify some of the fractures in the fanbase and get audiences excited.Star Warswould still have its obstacles, and even a Cal Kestis show would likely face backlash and controversy, but it would almost certainly be a widely popular decision.

Story possibilities aren’t the only determining factor, nor can they guaranteeStar Warswill create a show or movie. This is only one part of the equation that makes a Cal Kestis TV show seem quite likely, though. Another factor of equal if not more importance is that the actor who voices Cal Kestis inFallen OrderandSurvivorand served as inspiration for the character’s design, Cameron Monaghan, has expressed interest in taking on the live-action role.

With the actor on board, the fan base enthusiastic about the character, and the story possibilities available, it does seem more likely than not that a Cal Kestis TV show will eventually be announced. It’s impossible to say for sure untilStar Warsconfirms the project is in the works, and the rumors could currently be baseless, but several signs suggest otherwise. Cal Kestis’Star Warsstory could therefore truly be coming to the small screen in a live-action TV show, which would likely be a promising turn for the franchise.
