Star Wars Outlawsfans should prepare to pick up their blaster once again asUbisoft reveals what players can expect from the game’s next major update. Ever since the game’s release, developer Massive Entertainment has consistently rolled out patches to fix some ofOutlaws' lingering issues. The general responsiveness to player feedback has been encouraging, especially when the community has offered up plenty of valuable insight into the wonky stealth system and the combat, which is primed for a major upgrade.
Writing on the officialStar Wars Outlawsblog, Creative Director Drew Rechner explained how Massive is rebalancing combat to be a more enjoyable experience overall. Some highlights include headshots being made more rewarding while the stats on all weapons, enemies, and armor have all been tweakedto make everything more distinct. Enemies now have unique weak points that can be shot with a precision blast, and new death and hit animations are intended to give combat an extra weight that was missing in earlier builds of the game.

What Else Is Happening With Outlaws' Combat?
It’s All About The Impact
Rechner goes on to explain that Massive has spent the last few months evaluating “weapon feel,“a decision that’s pushed the team to upgrade aspects like “recoil, fire rate, ammo, and accuracy for every weapon.” Certain weapons, like the Ashiga ABR-2 Zato Blaster Rifle, have even had their shooting pattern redesigned to make them feel more unique. Perhaps most exciting is the addition of a “shoulder swap” mechanic which should maketaking cover much smoother, solving a major frustration many players experienced whenOutlawsfirst launched.
All of these changes sound incredibly promising especially since most players likely didn’t expect Massive Entertainment to so drastically overhaul combat. Given how much ofOutlawsconsists of combat,it likely took the studio a great deal of work to implement many of the aforementioned changes. The update is expected to go live on November 21, the same day thegame’sWild CardDLC releases.

Star Wars Outlaws' Revival Could Be As Big As No Man’s Sky
Star Wars Outlaws is receiving huge updates that promise to revamp its gameplay mechanics, giving it a redemption arc that rivals No Man’s Sky’s.
The Combat Changes In Outlaws Are Fantastic
Massive’s Effort Should Be Recognized
I think the overall combat changes inStar Wars Outlawsare a fantastic step forward for the game. As much as I enjoyedOutlaws' firefights, there is an undeniable lack of impact when hitting targets; It’s a problem I feel is compounded by the fact thatmany of the guns feel identical. Massive Entertainment’s emphasis on providing more diversity in the kinds of weapons players can use may be the key to solving the issue.
