But based on precedent established inThe Mandalorianseason 1,these AT-AT scenes could be incredible, using modern technology and effects to reimagine the walkers as more terrifying than ever, just like the AT-ST scene on Sorgan was.
On top of the AT-AT appearance, the footage also showedDin Djarindriving an AT-RT across a rocky environment. This walker, debuting inClone Wars(2003) and laterStar Wars: Episode III -Revenge of the Sith,is another design iconic to viewers ofStar Warsoutside the films, highlighting the wayThe Mandalorian & Groguseems to be pulling from all areas of theStar Warsuniverse. This Is A Step Up From Season 1’s AT-ST Scene
The AT-AT Is A Big Deal
The Mandalorianseason 1 shocked audiences with its terrifying depiction of the AT-ST, a walker that had been reduced to somewhat comedic status due to how the Ewoks took it down inReturn of the Jedi. The upcoming film has the opportunity to do this again for the AT-AT. After all, the AT-AT is one step up from the AT-ST, so if they decide to lean into the iconic 4-legged walker inThe Mandalorian & Groguthe same way they did for the AT-ST, this could be a serious win forStar Warsfans.
