Music has always been a vital part of Star Wars’ success.

Now, it’s Michael Giacchino’s son’s time in the spotlight. In aninterview with StarWars.com, Mick Giacchino revealed why he was so excited to work onSkeleton Crewspecifically:
“For me,Star Warswas always an escape into this fantastical world where I could imagine myself flying an X-wing or riding a tauntaun around. And, especially as a kid, it takes you to all these places that we can’t go as human beings, but we can be taken there through movies.”

The younger Giacchino’s score forSkeleton Crewreflects this child-like wonder. “The Kids Suite,” for instance, perfectly captures that sense of wonder and adventure thatSkeleton Crewembraces, as it builds to a crescendo reminiscent of how the spaceship the kids find in the first episode claws its way out of the dirt and takes to the stars.
Where Else Have You Heard Mick Giacchino’s Work?
Skeleton Crewisn’t Mick Giacchino’s first time composing for a major franchise. Recently, his work was featured inThe Penguin, HBO’s spinoff TV series set in Matt Reeves’ Batman universe. Giacchino’s work onThe Penguinperfectly complemented his father’s vision forThe Batman; both scores embrace the slow, methodical, sinister aura that permeates this version of Gotham while embracing two completely different characters. Mick Giacchino has also worked on AMC+‘sThat Dirty Black Bag, The Muppets Mayhemseries, and Disney’sZootopia+series.
