Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Ewoks #2Star Warsjust introduced the closest thing we might ever get to a Jedi Ewok in the official canon. In non-canon Legends, an old RPG reference guide introduceda Force-sensitive Ewok who becomes a Jedi Knight, robes, blue lightsaber, and all. However, the closest thing we might ever get to that in the official canon could very well be the newly introduced Red Ghost.
InStar Wars: Ewoks #2by Steve Orlando, Álvaro López, and Laura Braga, the Ewoks tribe of Bright Tree is faced with a group of Imperials and bounty hunters (including 4-LOM and Zuckuss) who’ve returned toEndor in the aftermath ofReturn of the Jedi, seeking a hidden weapons cache that was left on the planet. However, these new “cruel ones” find themselves the victims of a surprise attack by the mysterious Ewok warrior of myth known as the Red Ghost:

While the Imperial outsiders were led to believe that the Red Ghost was nothing more than a legend, this new Ewok warrior is proven to be quite real in this new issue, revealed to be a lone warrior with a surprising connection to Bright Tree despite being an outsider herself.
The Red Ghost Arrives To Protect Her Fellow Ewoks
A Warrior Who’s Not Just A Myth…
Incredibly fearsome and unafraid, the Red Ghost certainly gives the Imperials pause after she drops from the trees and attacks the “cruel ones”. Shown wielding an impressive spear and white cape, it certainly seems as though the Red Ghost is not unlike some sort of isolated vigilante hero, confirmed to live in the forest rather than with the rest of Bright Tree. To that end, she apparently has quite a reputation among her fellow Ewoks.

That said, it isn’t long before the Imperials and bounty hunters gain the upper hand with their superior firepower. Even after theequally mighty Ewok warrior Meedro and Wicket returnto offer their support against the outsiders, they eventually threaten to wipe out the entire tribe unless they’re given a hostage to serve as their guide, eventually taking Wicket instead of Meedro or The Red Ghost.Likewise, Red Ghost is at this point revealed to be the estranged daughter of Bright Tree’s Chief Chirpa.

The Ewoks Are Divided Over The Red Ghost
What Happened In Asha’s Past?
With her real name confirmed to be Asha, it’s clear that the Ewoks of Bright Tree are rather divided over the Red Ghost, suggesting some sort of complicated past that explains when she left for the forest and became a lone warrior. While it will be interesting to learn more about The Red Ghost,it’s clear from this issue alone that Asha’s quite an impressive warrior and fighter, so much so that it wouldn’t be surprising if she was later revealed to be Force-sensitive(her power perhaps being a reason why she left). While that’s just pure conjecture at the moment, it would certainly be exciting if Asha’s Red Ghost ends up being the canon’s answer to Legends' Ewok Jedi.
