Siloseason 2 returns to Apple TV+ on November 15, bringing with it countless new mysteries about the state of civilization revealed in the season 1 finale. Based onHugh Howey’s series of sci-fi novels, the series follows an inquisitive engineer named Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) who realizes that her community’s confined existence has been a lie perpetuated by the government. Though the extent of the lie (and how much the leaders actually know about the truth) has yet to be revealed, Juliette endedSiloseason 1 bystepping into the outside world and apparently not dying— much to everyone’s surprise.
Juliette’s actions have ignited newwhispers of rebellion inSiloseason 2, which Mayor Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins) and Robert Sims (Common) must prevent as Head of IT and Head of Security for Judicial respectively. But while Bernard knows more about the truth beyond the Silo than Sims does, even he has questions the Pact can’t answer, and he will need to summon all his knowledge before Juliette’s friends in Mechanical start raising hell.

Silo Season 2: How Juliette’s Friends Continue Flamekeeper Rebellion In New Episodes Explained By Stars

ScreenRantinterviewed Robbins and Common about thefallout from theSiloseason 1 finale, and the actors revealed how Bernard and Sims would handle the spark of rebellion that Juliette ignited. Juliette’s Exit Sparks A Flame The Bernard & Sims Struggle To Put Out In Silo Season 2
“We’re dealing with a tumult and a kind of revolutionary spirit in the Silo, and it’s all evolving day to day.”
Screen Rant: Bernard and Robert seem to be staunchly pro-Silo and keepers of its secrets, but they each react somewhat differently to Juliette’s final discovery about the display. How many adjustments is Bernard going to have to make to tamp down the flames emerging here?
Tim Robbins: Quite a few. We’re dealing with a tumult and a kind of revolutionary spirit in the Silo, and it’s all evolving day to day. So, yeah, I have to make a lot of difficult decisions. And so does [Sims].

Screen Rant: Common, Sims not knowing what Juliette has figured out in the finale haunts me. How in the dark is he vs. Bernard, and will this shift his loyalties or awaken his own curiosity?
Common: I don’t think it changes the way he operates because he always knew that there was some things that he didn’t know that Bernard has access to. Bernard is the head of IT, and they’ve always been the keepers of a lot of the knowledge that is going on in the Silo.

But I think that in dealing with the revolutionary spirit, Sims is really aligned with keeping everything safe. And he has several motivations. He cares about the people of the Silo, but he also has a family, so there’s a certain thing there for him. He’s hoping that Bernard sees things the way he sees them too, so that everything can come together, and they feel like they’ve got the best way.
But there’s a discovery in the season that happens, where everything isn’t going the way either one of us wants, and we have to deal with those difficulties and with the revolutionary spirit that’s there. We’re just trying to make the best decisions for the good of the Silo.
Screen Rant: At the start of season 2, do each of your characters think Juliette is alive out there? Why or why not?
Tim Robbins: I have knowledge about it that no one else does, so I know she’s alive for now. I’m not sure how long that’s going to last.
Common: I don’t know for sure, but the question is in my mind. Which is a great beginning for Sims in this season because I’ve been a true distributor of order; keeping things in order and following the Pact.
I believe what I’ve been told, so for me to have a question or even think that just a little flicker of something is a great place for me to start in this season.
Even Silo Villains Like Bernard & Sims Need Confidantes In Season 2
“You can’t do it alone, it is a lonely place, and things can become so dark.”
Screen Rant: There are some things that even Bernard does not know or questions he might have. Who does he turn to when he doesn’t have the answer?
Tim Robbins: Well, part of the problem is that he doesn’t really have anyone. Sims has got a wife to keep him grounded; Bernard is not allowed to have that kind of personal attachment because of the job that he has. So, it’s a pretty lonely journey.
There is one person he can talk to about it, and she doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. So, that’s part of his struggle.
Screen Rant: Speaking of Camille, I really love the look that passes between them in season 1, where it’s clear they have ambitions for Sims in the Silo. Can you talk about expanding on that relationship in season 2 and having her as a confidant?
Common: Yes, it is really a blessing to have Alexandria Riley as Camille Sims. It added a lot to Sims, just the story of this person and what I represent. [It’s nice] to have someone that you can bounce your thoughts off of, you can be vulnerable with in many ways, and just somebody who’s very intelligent and whom you trust. You make that pact to be together and married and be each other’s confidant and supporters. We need that in life sometimes.
With all the pressures and things that Sims is dealing with, she has been someone who has kept him grounded and kept him inspired and came with new ideas. You can’t do it alone, it is a lonely place, and things can become so dark. It’s like, “Wow, what is life about if you don’t have anyone?” I used to hear people say that to me. When you get to a certain age, you’re going to want to share these things with somebody. What you don’t realize is sharing the good and the bad is necessary; that’s where partnership really, to me, is fulfilled.
Tim Robbins: I don’t trust her. [Laughs] I don’t like your wife.
Common: Look, I trust her. That’s the most important thing I’ll say. She don’t trust him either, exactly.
Silo is the story of the last ten thousand people on Earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built and any who try to find out face fatal consequences. Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer, who seeks answers about a loved one’s murder and tumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth will.
