Red Hulk#2is set to follow the disgraced general and his fight to escape from Doctor Doom’s grasp. The last readers saw Ross, he was standing over a man’s corpse while praising “God Bless America,” before blacking out and awaking in a Latverian prison cell.

Despite Thunderbolt Ross’s long and decorated military career, he has devolved into a brutish echo of his former self;thus, Marvel has introduced Ross’s new team consisting ofAmerica’s greatest minds in military cybernetics.These three Marvel relics are all spectacles from Marvel’s past, who combine to offer an unlikely path to freedom for the Red Hulk to seize. For those unfamiliar with Ross’s team, all three were once members of the U.S. military, specializing in the field of cybernetic warfare. General Simon Ryker sat as the military’s chief cyberneticist, whose goal was to create the first perfect cyborg.
Red Hulk’s Greatest Power Can Make Doctor Doom Jealous. But Why?
In a prelude to One World Under Doom, Red Hulk is revealed as part of Doctor Doom’s grand plan, as the supervillain requires Ross’ greatest strength.
Alongside his brother Harlan, Ryker successfully created that cyborg in the form of the Deathlok. Using the time-displaced body of the original, two different Deathloks were created, one made from a willing soldier, John Kelly, and the other from an unwilling and disturbed soldier, Luther Manning. Now, alongside Ryker, one of Marvel’s various Deathloks serves on the Red Hulk’s team of anti-Doom revolutionaries. In addition to the team stands the Machine Man, Aaron Stack. Originally built to be another military weapon, Stack’s creator freed him, allowing the synthezoid to later join the Avengers and the Celestials.
Unlikely Heroes Rise Out OfOne World Under Doom
A common theme among this group is their shared experience of being “other.”The original Deathlok, Luther Manning, originates from Earth-7484, whereas his Earth-616 counterparts are merely duplicates. In his universe, the Ryker brothers created the Deathlok after one was critically injured bytheir universe’s Doctor Doom. Whether the Deathlok in this series is the original or one of the duplicates remains unknown. Similarly, Machine Man is only one of 52 versions, all of which succumbed to madness. The last time readers saw the real Aaron Stack, he had become a sentinel, exiled into space alongside the Celestials.

At the heart of this team is their formidable leader,the Red Hulk. Once a respected military general, Thaddeus “Thuderbolt” Ross threw away his respect when he allied with MODOK and the Leader,transforming himself into the very type of monster he threw everything away to hunt.To cover up his treachery, Ross replaced himself with an LMD, choosing to live a lie while continuing hisrelentless hunt for the Hulk. Created as part of a Super Soldier program by Doc Samson and criminal think tank the Intelligencia, Red Hulk was imagined as an antiheroic and more volatile adversary for the Hulk. Boasting greater strategic intelligence, his true identity was revealed to be General Thunderbolt Ross in World War Hulks. After years of speculation, Red Hulk debuts in Captain America: Brave New World, played by Harrison Ford.
