Pokémon Trading Card Game Pockethas launched a series of new events to celebrate the New Year, with new promo cards and plenty of new packs up for grabs. The popular new mobile game has kept players busy over the past few weeks with the release of the newMythical Islandexpansionand a handful of new events focused on battling human players and collecting cards. Most of these events have special promo cards up for grab, with alternative art and other perks available as mission rewards and prizes.

To celebrate the New Year, Pokémon TCG Pocket launched a brand-new event detailed onSerebii.net, offering a new Pikachu full-art promo card and multipleMythical Islandpacks. Unlike the Holiday event that simply required players to log in to collect rewards, players will need to complete tasks like participating in battles to collect all the prizes. A new Blastoise Drop event has also launched this week,with five new promo cardsincluding a new Blastoise full-art card, also detailed onSerebii. The New Year’s Event runs through January 7th, while the Blastoise Drop event runs through January 15th.

Pokémon TCG Pocket’s New Year’s event offers players a variety of prizes, including a new Pikachu full-art card and a special new frame featuring fireworks. While other events usually focus on one aspect of the game,the New Year’s event has missions that focus on several different aspects of the game. The Blastoise Drop Event is the latest drop event, with five new promo cards on the line.The highlight of the event is a brand-new full-art Blastoise promo card,showing Blastoise sitting in a workshop surrounded by various tools and machinery. Other promo cards include Snivy, Volcarona, Eevee, and Cinccino. To collect the promo cards, players need to participate in solo battles against a series of different Blastoise-themed decks. Each deck has separate missions to complete, with a total of 32 Wonder Hourglasses available as rewards.
