Finding the best cards in any givenPokémon TCGset can be a challenge at first, but Journey Together has some great cards to add to your decks. It’s also a great time to do so, as the release of Journey Together also makes the rotation for the card game, meaning a fair number of cards from past sets are now considered unplayable in competitive formats. It’s also a good time for newcomers to hop in, as everyone will be finding the best new decks together.
Withstocking issues continuing to be a concern forPokémon TCG,it is a good time to be investing in singles if you are a mostly competitive player- or if you are a casual player who just enjoys playing a game at the kitchen table. It makes more sense, and your pocketbook won’t be as sad as if you started paying for packaged product at the currently inflated price. However, deciding what cards to buy as singles is a whole other issue, but luckily, there are some good cards out there that might make the decision easier.

10Salamance ex
187/159
Salamence ex might not be as good as some of the later cards on this list, but that certainly doesn’t mean it’s a bad one. For those that like damaging your opponent’s backline, this one is going to devastate weaker and unevolved Pokémon that are still waiting for their time to come. It’s first attack, Wide Blast requires a total of three Energy and will do 50 damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokémon.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Now Has Shiny Pokémon, But One Card Requires Players To Pay Up
Pokémon TCG Pocket has just launched Shining Revelry, but you’ll have to pay $25 to purchase a bundle containing a brand-new Shiny Mewtwo card.
The second attack, which will take away two Energy when you use it, can also do 300 total damage to your opponent’s Active Pokémon. It helps that the Dragon-type meta is quite strong right now, and the art on the Special Illustration Rare is gorgeous. It is a great inclusion to any Dragon deck, and you should consider picking up at least the regular version if you plan on running this archetype.

9Mamoswine ex
174/159
Mamoswine ex is a great Stage 2 attacker, and it has a pretty large HP pool at 340. It’s a Fighting-type, which will likely mean it ends up in a heavy deck.It also lets you search and filter your deck, allowing you to pull out the cards you need for the final few rounds of the game. Some of the cards that have been rotated out had the most draw potential, and Mamoswine ex’s ability is a good way to make up for that.
Its main attack already does 180 damage, but if you happen to have an evolved backline,it can do up to 120 more damage. It’s not the right card for everyone, but it is a solid choice for those who have a decent amount of Stage 2 Pokémon in their decks and who want a tank to sit in front while they search out those cards using its ability.

8Hop’s Cramorant
138/159
This is a fairly unassuming colorless card and it can be very situational, but it is a great card in limited formats and people are finding good uses for it elsewhere. However,it is a Basic Pokémon that can do 120 damage when the time is right. It’s also a card that slots neatly into the package for Hop decks, and it can end up being free in the Hop deck archetype.
Its best place might be in limited formats, but there are still plenty of reasons to try it out elsewhere. On its own, it might not be as strong, but it can still KO support Pokémon and perhaps an evolutionthat took a beatingbefore it KO’d your Active Pokémon. It’s not a bad one to have waiting on the Bench for the right opportunity to pop up, and it’ll be a cheap card for any player to pick up.

7Dundunsparce ex
121/159
If you are using the Dundunsparcecard fromPrismatic Evolutions, you should consider adding this ex version to your deck as well.Dundunsparce is one of the only new cards that can do a lot of card draw, and it is colorless, so anyone can add a little card draw to their deck. Adding in a Dundunsparce ex can give you a closer to make use of the Dunsparce you will have to include for the other version of the card.
This is because your attack can do 60 damage for each of your opponent’s Pokémon ex. Moreover, the Destructive Drill can do a guaranteed 150 damage, as it can’t be modified or lessened by the opponent’s Active Pokémon. It’s not the strongest card, but it does have its uses, and it’s an easy include for anyone already using the regular version of this Pokémon.
6Wailord
041/159
If you want a strong water-type, Wailord is the way to go in this set. Hydro Pump gets stronger and stronger over time,as it does an extra 50 damage for each Water Energy attached to the Pokémon. It is very simple, there’s nothing complicated going on here, but it can just hit like a whale.
Don’t Worry If You Missed Out On Pokémon TCG’s Destined Rivals Pre-Orders
Upcoming Destined Rivals products for the Pokémon TCG sold out quickly on Pokémon Center, but restocks will happen soon if you missed out.
Pairing it with Baxcaliber can give you a lot of damage potential, as Baxcaliber can attach as much Water Energy as you have in your hand to one of your Pokémon. This could let you get Wailord up and running fast, and the good news is that Wailord is not an ex-Pokémon, so when your opponent takes it out, they only get a single prize card as opposed to two. It’s simple but can be very effective.
5Hop’s Zacian ex
111/159
Back on the Bench damage train,Hop’s Zacian ex does damage both to the Active Pokémon and to a Benched Pokémon. It can also do a single 240 damage attack while having 230 HP itself. It is a Metal-type, and it is a good addition to the rest of Hop’s suite of cards. There are some great staples in thisdeck inJourney Together, and his Zacian is one of them.
It could be pretty powerful in a deck that specifically targets the Bench, since it also has an option for taking out the Active Pokémon if it’s becoming a problem. It likely won’t be your finisher, but it could be a good early evolution to get rid of the Pokémon on the backline while they are still vulnerable.
4N’s Zoroark ex
098/159
Another card that can make up for the missing card draw, N’s Zoroark ex has a lot of potential, and it can let you use attacks from your Benched Pokémon when they normally couldn’t be. That, plus the option to filter your hand and replace a bad card with better ones, is a great start.
This works particularly well with N’s Reshiram, which has two attacks that can get pretty high.Swapping out Zoroark for Reshiram after it has a fair amount of damage counters on itis the way to get the most potential from them. N’s Zoroark ex is less effective on its own; It needs to be part of the “N package” but it does make the deck pretty strong.
3Hop’s Dubwool
136/159
This is a great support Pokémon that is making waves in the meta right now. They might be at their best in an Archaludon build, but the ability to force your opponent to move their Active Pokémonwhile you still have a big boy in the Active spot can get you a clutch win. While it may not be as pretty as some of the cards that have special illustration variants, it makes up for it by essentially being a Supporter card without that title.
The advantage of that is that you can play a “second” Supporter on a turn when you play a Dubwoolsince the Dubwool acts like a Boss’s Orders. There’s a chance that Supporter won’t get reprinted into the rotation for next year as well, making Dubwool even more valuable as the game moves forward into future sets.
2Brock’s Scouting
146/159
While I have been mentioning cards all along that can make up for the loss of card draw ability, this is one of the best ones to replace any F cards that were rotated out.He lets you get either two Basic Pokémon or one Evolution into your hand, and that’s more than enough to make him worth seeking out. The good news is that the regular version of this card is just Uncommon, and it is currently sitting at around $0.17-0.75 onTCGPlayer.
After Seeing Pokémon TCG’s Glory Of Team Rocket Merch, I’m Convinced It’s Going To Be The Card Game’s Biggest Set Ever
The merchandise that has been produced for the Japanese Glory of Team Rocket expansion is sure to be incredibly popular to both use and collect.
That makes him very easy to add to your deck and let you fetch the core components of your deck out without breaking the bank. And, if you do want to get a nicer one, the Ultra Rare version is sitting around $5. There are not really any special tricks with this card, just a good Supporter that can get your game moving fast.
1Lillie’s Clefairy ex
056/159
By far the biggest hit and the one that is grabbing the most attention in the meta for Journey Together is Lillie’s Clefairy. It is a Basic Psychic-type Pokémon, and it is a direct counter to all those Dragon decks out there that have been dominating the meta previously. It forces them to change the weakness of those Pokémon to the Psychic-type, and it is a passive ability, so Clefairy can sit on the Bench to make this happen.
If it doesn’t just sit on the Bench,it has an attack that can hit for 140 damage if both players' Benches are fully loaded. This makes it a great card no matter how you look at it, and most players seem to agree about that right now. It could change as the meta evolves and perhaps with the release ofDestined Rivalslater this year, but for now, anyone who wants to counter a Dragon-type deck should pick up this card inPokémon TCG.
