The newTo The Max!Special Research story is a great way to learn about Max Battles inPokémon GO, with a range of tasks to complete in exchange for helpful rewards. For the first time since thePokémon Sword and Shieldgames, Dynamax Pokémon can be used in Niantic’s mobile title. With new moves for giant creatures like Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, the signature mechanic of the Galar region is setting the stage to shake things up.
TheTo The Max!Special Research story launched on September 4 at 10 AM local time and needs to be claimed by December 4 at 10:59 AM. You can complete the Special Research story whenever you like since there’s no deadline. With big incentive rewards like encounters with a Dynamax Wooloo and Dynamax Skwovet, claiming and completing these tasks is an opportunity thatPokémon GOplayers won’t want to miss out on.

The first and second batches of the tasks and rewards in theTo The Max!Special Research story require you to explore andcollect Max Particlesbyinteracting with Power Spots. Max Particles are what’s needed to enter Max Battles with Dynamax Pokémon, and Power Spots are the new Gym-like spots on the map which give out Max Particles. The exact tasks and rewards are as follows:
Explore 5km

Level up 1 Max Moves
10 Ultra Balls
In exchange for completing both sets of tasks, you’ll also get 8000XP each along with a Dynamax encounter. The first will be with a Wooloo and then the second will be with Skwovet. When you’re not figuring outhow to get Stonjurner inPokémon GO, you’ll have your own Dynamax creatures ready to use in battle yourself.

As a reward for finishing off these final steps, you’ll get8000 more XP, 4000 Stardust, and a Dynamax Bandfor your avatar to wear. It’s only a cosmetic item, similar to the Eevee shirts you could previously unlock by completing theWelcome to the Partystory, but it makes for a nice touch for any players who are a fan of the Dynamax mechanic.
How To Unlock To The Max! Special Research Story
Earn A Dynamax Band
Pokémon GOplayers can only unlock theTo The Max!Special Research byreaching Trainer Level 13 or above. Once most players do this, they will find the quest unlocked for them automatically. However, if the quest does not become available, I have found a couple of ways to get it to work.
The first method is closing the game and reopening it on your device. A second trick is to find the game’s page on your app store to be sure you’re playing with the current updated version. If not, update the app, and the quest should be available when you next load into the game. By completing all of the aboveTo The Max!Special Research tasks, you’ll be a Dynamax master in no time with thePokémon GOrewards to show for it.
