Dynamax Beldum is the latest Max Raid Boss to appear inPokémon GOas part of the Psychic Spectacular event. As well as being able to battle this Steel/Psychic-type creature, you’ll also get the chance to catch it and evolve it into the powerful Metagross. Before you can do that, though, you’ll need to know its weaknesses and the best counters to take it down.
Following in the footsteps of Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet, and Wooloo, Beldum is now appearing in Max Battles located atPower Spotsacross the map. Its final evolution, Metagross, is an imposing pseudo-Legendary Pokémon that’s one of the best attackers for Raid Battles, so having a Dynamax-capable version in your collection is sure to come in handy for future Max Battles.

Dynamax Beldum Weaknesses In Pokémon GO
There Are Four Vulnerabilities You Can Exploit
Dynamax Beldum has four weaknesses that you may target:Dark, Fire, Ghost, and Ground-type attacks. None of these attack types are more effective than another, so use whichever one you have access to. Remember that only Dynamax Pokémon can enter Max Battles, and you’re allowed three on your team, so your options are going to be quite limited.
Best Counters For Dynamax Beldum In Pokémon GO
There’s One Dynamax Pokémon You Need
There aren’t many Dynamax Pokémon available inPokémon GOright now, but fortunately, there’s one excellent Beldum counter that you might already have in your collection:Dynamax Charmander. This fan-favorite starter Pokémon has been appearing inMax Raid Battlessince the GO Big event on July 12, 2025. If you don’t have one yet, try looking for a Max Raid featuring Dynamax Charmander on the map. Defeat it in battle, and you’ll get a chance to catch it.
Max Raids are hosted in Power Spots, which appear as glowing purple icons on the map. You can also check the Nearby feature and scroll across to the Power Spots tab to see Max Battles that are within reach of your current location.

Considering thatDynamax Beldum is the first Three-Star Max Raid Bossin the game and will be a more difficult opponent than previous Max Raid Bosses you’ve faced, it would be a good idea to fully evolve your Dynamax Charmander intoDynamax Charizardif you have enough Candy. Make sure it knows Fire-type attacks, power it up if you have more Candy spare, and team up with other Trainers where possible. Round out your team witha Blastoise that knows Bite and a Greedent that knows Mud Shot.
Finally, it’s good to know that Shiny Beldum is available inPokémon GO, so there’s a small chance that the Dynamax Beldum you catch will also be a rare Shiny variant. The odds of this happening are very low, but it would be a nice surprise to add another Shiny Pokémon to your collection.
