WARNING: SPOILERS FOR ONE PIECE CHAPTER #1127
One Piece’s newest storyline finally bringsLuffyand his Straw Hat crew toElbaf, the land of giants, and even though the first chapter had them defeat and eat a god, the next part of the final saga will only get more intense from there. The post-Egghead arc started without a slow introduction to the giant’s home island and its people’s customs and instead featured anostalgic throwback forOne Piecefansthat saw the original members of Luffy’s crew topple one of the giant’s gods.
Author Eiichiro Oda has said that the story ofOne Piecewas entering its final saga when Luffy’s crew reached Egghead Island. It was an arc filled with surprises, revelations, and confrontations many fans had waited years to see develop. The fact that the series has begun to raise its stakes towards the climax of the long-running series is exceptionally apparent. Especially withthe Elbaf arc beginning by having Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro cooking up what the giants referred to as their “Ear God"in chapter #1127, and the rules of storytelling dictate that things will escalate.

The Straw Hats Know How To Make An Entrance In A New Land
Elbaf Will BeOne Piece’s Thirty-Third Story Arc
The last readers saw Luffy and his crew they were celebrating their victory and escape from Egghead Island with the giants that helped rescue them from the perilous futuristic island and the clutches of the World Government’s Five Elders. However, chapter #1127 wasted little time thrusting Nami and Usopp into danger when they woke up in a strange castle with huge pets looming. It was an intense introduction to the new land, but before the chapter’s end, it becomes apparent that Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji had a much less frightening experience that may have doomed them all regardless.
While the chapter “Adventure In The Land Of Mystery” focused on the first five Straw Hat crew members, its first pages hinted that catastrophe was soon approaching the seemingly peaceful Elbaf town. Two giants shared concern about events caused by Luffy’s crew, like huge bees, aka stingmores, falling from above, along with a fire and earthquake coming from a forest next to the giant’s Lego-like town. They expressed that the rumbling was from"the sound of the Ear God collapsing,” which the two colossal warriors referred to as a “titanic rabbit.” Readers soon learn that they are incredibly familiar with the true culprits of the disturbance.

Nami and Usopp attracted the ire of a gigantic cat that transformed into an even bigger lion in front of their eyes. It was about to land a brutal attack on theleast powerful Straw Hat Pirates, but it was knocked out cold with a coordinated attack from the Monster Trio: Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji. When discussing whether Sanji should cook the villainous feline, the Captain refuses the idea by saying the rabbit they ate was good enough.Luffy’s statement reveals that they ate the Ear God the giants spoke ofbut also brought suspicion onto the Straw Hat Captain.
A Straw Hat Impostor Or Elbaf Hallucinations Bring More Questions Than Answers
The Land Of The Giants Has Already Introduced A Plethora Of Mysteries
With the murder and devouring of the renowned Ear God, the destruction of a royal castle, and the attack of said royalty’s pets, the Straw Hats are making a considerable impression on the giant’s homeland of Elbaf. However, someOne Piecefans have reason to believe that things are already not as they seem in the land of mystery. Reasons that range from hallucinations caused by drinking to an impostor who may have already replicated everyone’s favorite stretchy pirate.
As highly regarded asOne Pieceis in the manga world, it’s not without its faults. It’s rare, but mistakes like scars drawn on the wrong characters and limbs existing where they shouldn’t have happened in the past. However, chapter #1127 had several mistakes, leadingOne Piecefans to believe that part of the introduction to Elbaf is a hallucination.

Most of the normally rare errors that were found in chapter #1127 involve Luffy. Instances like the Straw Hat Captain saying the wrong name with his attack and the weapon on his back constantly changing were odd enough to stick out to readers. Still, the obstruction of his eyes, his iconic Straw Hat missing, and the fact that he refused to try a new type of food are enough oddities that point tosomething weird going on with Luffy, almost as if he is someone elsetrying to pretend to be Pirate Emperor Straw Hat Luffy.
Loki,One Piece’s prince of Elbaf, was first introduced during the Whole Cake Island arc when it was revealed that he fell in love with one of Big Mom’s daughters but was left heartbroken after she ran away from the marriage arrangement. Little is known about Eiichiro Oda’s version of the character’s personality or abilities, but several adaptations of the Norse God have depicted the character with shapeshifting abilities and a proclivity for playing pranks on characters that pique their interest.

Where One Piece’s Elbaf Arc Can Go From Here
Elbaf Was First Teased InOne PieceChapter #116 In 1999
There is a fair chance that the art mistakes were genuine and that Luffy’s lack of appetite is the result of the previous feast of the titanic rabbit being so large, but all of those reasons happening in the same chapter have spawned suspicion that things in Elbaf are not as they seem. Introducing the concept thatthe Straw Hat crew members could be seeing things that are not thereinstantly puts the audience on edge and in doubt about everything Eiichiro Oda shows his readers, establishing an uneasy and fascinating beginning to one ofOne Piece’s final arcs.
Giants reacting to the environment without any Straw Hat members around proves that not everything happening in chapter #1127 is an illusion. And while it is unclear if the Straw Hats Captain is really who he seems to be and not Loki in disguise, it is clear that the Straw Hats have hurt and even killed animals that the residents of Elbaf hold in high regard, possibly even worship. History has proven that certainOne Piececultures do not take too kindly to foreigners who punch their gods, complicating the reuniting of the Straw Hat crew and their allies.
