Black Myth: Wukongfeatures a huge variety of spirits to summon in battle, and most of them are easy to pick up throughout the game. Even without attempting to get spirits, the Destined One will naturally end up with a surplus, as plenty of enemies drop them upon being defeated. Acquiring one of thebest spirits inBlack Myth: Wukongtakes a far more convoluted process, however, and it’s shockingly easy to go through the game without ever having a clue how to access a particularly great battle option.
Chapter Four ofBlack Myth: Wukongputs the focus on enemies that creep and crawl, with plenty of spiders, centipedes, and larval creatures to fight or simply shudder at. One challenge found in the chapter is the Elder Amourworm, a large, grub-like creature that mostly flops around in the fight. Rather than dropping an Elder Amourworm spirit, however, the foe leaves behind a key item called theProto-Amourworm, and the description on the item doesn’t help to clarify anything about how it might be put into use.

Getting The Elder Amourworm Spirit Is Complicated
Layers Of Prerequisites Can Be Confusing
TheProto-Amourwormcan actually be turned into a spirit, but it requires a surprisingly involved process with a number of prerequisites. The first key lies in having unlocked the Zodiac Village in Chapter Three, a peaceful area where several NPCs are happy to set up camp.To gain access to the Zodiac Village, the Destined One needs to meet the character Chen Loong, defeat him in combat, and then talk to him afterward to learn that he wants an item called theSpecial-made Bone-Strengthening Pellet.
The Destined One can acquire the Bone-Strengthening Pellet easily by returning to theXu Dog found beneath the Crouching Tiger Templein Act Two. Upon returning to Chen Loong with the item, he offers theRuyi Scrollto the Destined One.Stepping into the scroll brings the Destined One to the Zodiac Village, where Chen Loong has several baskets that can be used to cultivate and harvest useful materials.

It’s nothing fundamentally game-changing, so it might not be worth pursuing for those just looking to see the credits roll, but it’s still one of thecoolest spirit transformation optionsinBlack Myth: Wukong.
The Elder Amourworm spirit’s passive equipped effect slightly increases the Destined One’s critical hit chance when poisoned, which isn’t anything to write home about.

Getting an Elder Amourworm Spirit isn’t the only reason to unlock the Zodiac Village inBlack Myth: Wukong, as it’s a relevant hub in other regards. The Destined One can conveniently visit the Xu Dog and Shen Monkey there, and the Yin Tiger can upgrade armor, which is exceptionally useful. As far as everything involving the Proto-Amourworm itself, however, it’s all for the sole purpose of acquiring the spirit.
