New images of Jude Law’s character inStar Wars: Skeleton Crewhave been released, and they prove he’ll be playing a completely new kind of Jedi. Jude Law will play Jod Na Nawood inSkeleton Crew, theupcoming live-actionStar Warsshow. He, along with the rest of thecast ofSkeleton Crew, will be exploring new parts of theStar Warsgalaxy and going on fun adventures reminiscent ofThe Goonies. Previously,Law hinted that there’s more to his Jedithan meets the eye, yet new pictures ofSkeleton Crewhave given plenty of information on Jod Na Nawood already.
Pictures shared byEntertainment Weeklyshowed Law as a kind of pirate Jedi, complete with a long duster coat and a blaster with a grip that looks like it was taken off a flintlock pistol. Series co-creator Jon Watts mentioned that Jod Na Nawood’s pirate appearance was completely intentional, while Christopher Ford mentioned that they wanted to make a “whole new kind of a Jedi.” Watts also mentioned that the cast ofSkeleton Crewwould be exploring the wild space regions of theStar Warsgalaxy map, and Jod Na Nawood looks exactly as wild as the adventures in store for him.

Star Wars: Wait, What IS A Skeleton Crew Anyway?
What exactly is a “skeleton crew,” and what is its significance within the story of Star Wars' newest series coming out this December?
What Jude Law’s New Kind Of Jedi Means For Star Wars
Star Warscanon has introduced plenty of types of Jedi over the years, from sticklers for the rules like Obi-Wan Kenobi to more laid-back and risk-taking Jedi like Qui-Gon Jinn.Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood, however, seems to be something else entirely, and he could shake upStar Wars. The emphasis on Jod’s pirate appearance and, presumably, his demeanor doesn’t really coincide with the teachings of the Jedi Order. Given Jod’s age and the fact thatSkeleton Crewtakes place during the New Republic era of theStar Warstimeline, the show could be adding to the lore ofOrder 66 survivors.
The first two episodes ofSkeleton Crewpremiere on Disney+ on December 3.

If Jod Na Nawood was a survivor of Order 66, thenSkeleton Crewcould be showing a darker path for former Jedi than anything else inStar Warspreviously has. There were, of course, fallen Jedi after Order 66, from the various Inquisitors to Baylan Skoll ofAhsokaand more. Jod, however, doesn’t seem like a typical fallen Jedi.Instead, Jod could be an example of what some survivors did after the Jedi Purge: give in to their base desires. Pirates famously covet money and riches, and Jod Na Nawood could be proof that without the Order, some Jedi sought those treasures out for themselves.
We’ll Finally Get To See A Jedi Use A Blaster
Setting aside the potential for Jod Na Nawood to introduce new Order 66 survivor lore, Jude Law’s Jedi has another unique opportunity. He could be the first live-action Jedi to really use a blaster. Jedi have used blasters extensively in the past, but there was always a level of secrecy or desperation to it. Luke and Rey Skywalker, for example, only used their blasters until they mastered their lightsabers.Jedi like Ezra Bridger and Cal Kestis used their blasters to give them an edge they needed to survive. Likewise, Obi-Wan Kenobi only used one for secretive missions or for his very survival.
Jod Na Nawood, however, displays his blaster proudly on his belt, front and center. There doesn’t seem to be any level of deception or subterfuge involved, and Jod actually seems to be displaying his blaster. That could be a hint that he’s not using the blaster to help him survive, but he’s actually relying on it as a primary weapon. In any case, Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood seems to be a very unique Jedi, andSkeleton Crewis already looking like a very uniqueStar Warsshow.
