Nine new promo cards have appeared inPokémon Trading Card Game Pocket,giving players a tantalizing tease of upcoming events.Mythical Islandhas officially launched inPokémon TCG Pocket, providing players with over 80 new cards to collect. Several of these cards look to shake up the metagame, including Celebi ex and its accompanying support card Serperior. WhileMythical Island’s cards are available via regular booster packs, eagle-eyed players also noticed some brand-new cards set aside for future promo events.
The card dex now includes nine spaces for new promo cards, providing a tease of what players can expect over the next six weeks. The new cards include a new Pikachu promo card featuring Pikachu and all the Kanto Starter Pokémon,as well as an alternate art Blastoise card and an alternate art Moltres ex card. Wonder Pick Event And Solo Battle Events Are Likely In The Cards
The new promo cards are likely tied to several upcoming events that are likely to model recent events. For example, the Blastoise full art card is likely tied to a new Blastoisesolo battle event,where players face a computer-controlled deck headlined by Blastoise. Both Charmander and Squirtle are tied to anupcoming Wonder Pick event, based on the use of the Chansey stamp. The new Pikachu card, due to the lack of a solo stamp,is likely to be January’s Premium Pass card. We’ll note that November’s premium pass featured the same Pikachu card with different artwork.

The only real problem among these new cards is the new Moltres ex card. A Lapras ex was used as the main giveaway for the first solo battle event, but that card was brand new and wasn’t just an alternate art card.Moltres ex is certainly powerful enough to justify its own event,although it does seem a little surprising that aPokémonex card is receiving two “normal” variations as opposed to a new full art or alternate art card.

Between the new Mythical Island cards and these new promo cards, there should be enough new cards to keep players busy through the end of January. Mythical Island will be followed up by a larger set in January 2025according to datamines,sothese promo cards will be enough for about three events' worth of prizes.
The real question is howPokémon TCG Pocketplans to celebrate its first holiday season and whether it’s planning any new surprises outside of the already familiar Wonder Pick and Solo Battle events.
