Matt Murdock’s new power-set in theMCUhas been shown off in the first footage fromDaredevil: Born Again, which makes me very excited about the upcoming Marvel Television series. After playing the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in his solo Netflix series,Daredevil, andThe Defendersbetween 2015 and 2018, Charlie Cox officially returned as Matt Murdock in 2021’sSpider-Man: No Way Home. Cox’s Daredevil is one of my favorite MCU heroes, so I was thrilled to see him return, and to hear that he’ll be embarking on abrand-new adventure in 2025’sDaredevil: Born Again.
Matt Murdock’s Daredevilshowed off more of his acrobatic abilities inShe-Hulk: Attorney at LawandEcho, but I can’t wait forDaredevil: Born Againto put even more attention on the Man Without Fear’s abilities.My hopes for Daredevil’s powers to take center-stage have only been exacerbated by the release of new footage from the highly-anticipated upcoming series. Now that he’s officially in the hands of Marvel Studios, I’m sure more ofDaredevil’s abilities will be displayed, and this makes me even more excited about the MCU’s future as a whole.

Daredevil’s Superhuman Powers Will Have More Focus In Born Again
On October 30, Marvel Studios released a short video comprising footage of theMCU’s upcoming Disney+ projectsin the remainder of 2024 and 2025. AlongsideIronheart,Wonder ManandWhat If…?season 3, among others,I was elated to seeDaredevil: Born Againget some attention, and this new footage has me convinced Matt Murdock’s more superhuman powers will get more focusthan they ever did on Netflix. Daredevil was a grounded, more human hero on Netflix, but the full scope of his powers in live-action is yet to be explored.
Most notably, I noticed that Marvel Studios’Look Aheadfootage saw the image of Matt Murdock in his new Daredevil suit appear on a screen in the Time Variance Authority fromDeadpool & Wolverine. In the scene,it looks as though Daredevil uses his radar sense, allowing him to hear for great distances, and a dolly zoom effect is used to physically show what Matt Murdock experienceswhen using this power. This effect was never used inNetflix’sDaredevilseries, so I reckon Marvel Studios will be physically demonstrating more of Daredevil’s powers in the MCU.

Daredevil Has Been A Live-Action Hero For Almost A Decade
In conjunction with the release ofEchoin January 2024, Marvel Studios confirmed thatNetflix’s Defenders Saga shows, includingDaredevil, are canon to the MCU’s official timeline. This has made many think thatDaredevil: Born Againwill show Matt Murdock with very few changes fromDaredevil, but Marvel Studios has the perfect excuse to introduce many changes and a real evolution for Murdock.By the timeDaredevil: Born Againpremieres in March 2025, it will have been seven years sinceDaredevilseason 3 ended, meaning there will have been plenty of time for Daredevil to grow.

Matt Murdock has shown off a serious acrobatic upgrade sinceDaredevilseason 3in projects such asShe-Hulk: Attorney at LawandEcho, and I can’t wait to see this continue inDaredevil: Born Again.Beyond just his physical abilities, however, I think this is the perfect opportunity for Daredevil to have honed more of his innate, superhuman powers, including his radar sense, which was only briefly mentioned inDaredevil. This also makes me think more of Daredevil’s superhuman senses and reflexes will be put on display, which is an incredibly exciting prospect.

Marvel Studios Has More Opportunity To Show Off Daredevil’s Superhuman Powers
Netflix’s Marvel shows were always very grounded, gritty and based in the real world, butMarvel Studios' access to more supernatural, otherworldly and fantastical elements means Daredevil’s wilder powers can be put on display meaningfully. We’ve already seen this be the case forVincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, who showed off impressive strength inHawkeyethat he never did on Netflix. I would love forDaredevil: Born Againto lean into the weirder side of Daredevil’s abilities, allowing Charlie Cox to demonstrate sides to Matt Murdock that we’ve never seen before.
