Warning: SPOILERS for Boruto: Two Blue vortex chapter #16
Boruto: Two Blue Vortexhas been making fans aware of how much of a genius Boruto is with many feats and shows of both power and intelligence, but the latest chapter has confirmedhe is a bigger prodigy than even Minato, the Fourth Hokage, and his grandfather. It also showed how much respect Boruto has for those who came before him, making him even more likable.
In chapter #16 ofBoruto: Two Blue Vortex, a flashback showed Boruto and Kashin Koji’s discussion during the 3-year time skip, whereKashin Koji told Boruto about the ability his future self learnedsix years later: the Flying Thunder God. Kashin Koji told Boruto thathe invented space-time ninjutsu from scratch, and he named it Flying Thunder God to honor his grandfather Minato.

Boruto Invented His Own Teleportation Jutsu
And It Is More Efficient Than Minato’s Flying Raijin
Kashin Koji mentioned that Boruto had accidentally used the Otsutsuki’s space-time warping powers a few times in the past without being able to control it. However, in the span of six years,he managed to turn this power into an actual teleportation jutsu and master it. Additionally, he learned to imbue metal objects with his chakra; by sensing these objects, he could teleport to them. This is where the similarities with Minato’s Flying Raijin are, as Minato used marked Kunai to teleport. However, Boruto found a problem with using similar-looking metal objects to teleport and devised a clever solution.
If Boruto imbued two similar metals with his chakra and planted them in different areas, he wouldn’t know which one he teleported to if he used the jutsu. To combat this disadvantage. Boruto used different shaped objects, and by thinking of one and concentrating, he could teleport to any location he desired without any restrictions. This clever loophole he exploited is just yet another proof ofBoruto’s incredible brilliance, and both Sasuke and Kashin Koji consider him a genius, which is high praise given the two have seen and battled the most brilliant ninja ever.

More importantly, Boruto came up with his version of the Flying Raijin on his own. He had no one to teach him this jutsu, as his grandfather was long dead. His version is also completely different because it draws from an innate Otsutsuki power and turns it into a jutsu, thus making it more suitable for Boruto, who has to avoid using his Karma at all costs, at the risk of awakening Momoshiki’s consciousness inside him.
While Minato’s skills and ingenuity are legendary, he did not invent the Flying Thunder God on his own. His master, the Second Hokage Tobirama Senju, is the creator of the technique, which Minato then refined and made more efficient. So, while Boruto has drawn inspiration from his grandfather’s legendary technique, as is evident from the fact he used the same name, having never actually witnessed it in person, he had to build this jutsu from zero, provinghe may be even more skilled than the legendary Fourth Hokage.
Boruto Honors His Legacy And Lineage
Naruto And Minato’s Influence On Boruto Is Evident
A cornerstone of Boruto’s character is his love for his family and friends, particularly for Naruto. When Eida used Omnipotence and Boruto’s life was completely destroyed, he found strength within his father’s example and continued to endure. And now, he named one of his strongest new abilities after his grandfather’s signature move. This small detail makes Boruto even more interesting and also doubles as great fan service for fans who grew up with theNarutoseries.
Masashi Kishimoto described Boruto as “more capable of analyzing his environment, his surroundings, he has a more skillful side than Naruto”, which is very similar to Minato. Both are prodigies and some of the highest scorers in the Ninja Academy and now it seems Boruto is almost as reliant on teleportation as his grandfather.Boruto: Two Blue Vortex’s main character is a mash-up of two generations of incredible ninjas, and he has solidified himself as a bigger genius than even Minato.
