What To Expect From MTG’s Secret Lair D&D Drops
Baldur’s Gate 3 Gets Some Major Representation
Despite tying in withDnD’s 50th anniversary, the Secret Lair Superdrop puts an emphasis onBaldur’s Gate 3in particular, with Astarion’s Thirst and Karlach’s Rage being themed after twopopular party members from the game. TheBattle for Baldur’s Gatecards featured some tie-in elements with the then-upcoming game, and the two cards revealed so far for the Secret Lair release, courtesy of the officialMTGSecret LairTwitter account, are new versions ofBattle for Baldur’s Gatecards.
AlthoughMTG’s original depiction of the vampiric rogue Astarion was similar to his appearance in-game, the tiefling barbarian Karlach was still undergoing major design revisions whenBattle for Baldur’s Gatereleased. The new Secret Lair art brings herMTGappearance much closer to theBaldur’s Gate 3version.

How To Tell Magic: The Gathering Card Rarity
By observing a few key details and understanding their meaning, it is easy to discern the rarity of any given Magic: The Gathering card.
As for the beholder sets, the iconicDnDmonster has previously featured inMTGcards like Eyes of the Beholder and Baleful Beholder. Cards like Xanathar, Guild Kingpin and Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant also depicted specificbeholders fromDnDlore. These many-eyed creatures have instilled nightmarish memories in manyDnDparties thanks to their strategic minds and varied attacks, so it’s no surprise that they would be the monsters to make the cut.
For those who aren’t as into the collectible aspect, buying some oldAdventures in the Forgotten RealmsandBattle for Baldur’s Gatepacks is still a good way to pick up cards for play. Anyone on the fence about the Secret Lair release can look forward to seeing the other cards revealed in the future, especially when it comes to An Exhibition of Adventure, which remains more mysterious than the other drops at the moment. In any scenario, the Secret Lair xDungeons & Dragons50th Anniversary Superdrop should provide some niceMagic: The Gatheringeye candy forDnDfans.
