After the PlayStation Network was down for almost 24 hours during a worldwide outage, the developers ofMonster Hunter Wildsdecided to give fans an extra day to playtest the upcoming title. Back in November 2024, Capcom held their first open beta test forMonster Hunter Wilds,and decided to host another in February 2025. During the second playtest, the PSN was down for almost an entire day, leaving PlayStation users unable to accessMonster Hunter Wildsduring the downtime.

In a post on X from the officialMonster Hunteraccount,the developers wanted to make good out of the bad situation that occurred with the PSN and offered an extra day of play forMHW.The details on when that extra day will take place are still foggy, but the devs state they will keep fans updated on when the playtest day will take place.

The currentMonster Hunter WildsOBT2 is scheduled to end on February 9 at 7PM PT, so it doesn’t appear that this current playtest will be extended for the extra day of playtime. While the launch date forMHWis set for February 28, and a second playtest is scheduled for February 14,one can only assume Capcom will extend the second playtest in order to allow PlayStation users to make up for lost time during the outage.

PSN Is Down For Over 18 Hours, Fans Hope It’s Not A Repeat Of The Great Outage Of 2011

The PlayStation Network has been down for nearly a day and PlayStation fans are recalling the outage of 2011 as they wait for Sony to restore service.

Sony has yet to touch on exactly what caused the outage,only stating in a recent X post that the service “recovered from an operational issue”,with no further details shared at the time of writing. While the outage was one of the longest seen in quite some time, keeping PlayStation players from being able to enjoyMHWwhile it’s available for the test, fans are thrilled that Capcom is willing to make up for time lost.
