With the mid-season patch ofMarvel Rivalsintroduction of The Thing and The Human Torch, it also brought tons ofbalance changes that shifted the power of the Strategists. A lot of Strategists received nerfs, with very few receiving buffs, though it was enough to where certain Strategists were allowed to shine. That being said, certain strategists hold clear strengths over others, allowing them to be ranked based off strength in the mid-season patch.

While every Strategist can be useful in the right scenarios, some have clear advantages in the current meta over others. This also goes for their ability to protect themselves, deal with flankers, and impact the game at most skill levels. Either way, Strategists remain the most powerful and effective role inMarvel Rivals, even with the nerfs trying to tone them down. As such, there’s no F or D tier characters for this role.

5Best Strategist Heroes in Marvel Rivals (Tier List)

Ranked from S To C Tier

When it comes to the best of the best Strategists in Marvel Rivals, they can simply do almost everything well. Both S and A Tier heroes are amazing at impacting the outcome of fights with key skills that can usually crowd control (CC) or prevent damage, whether this comes in the form of an ultimate or a basic skill. They’ll also typically have much higher healers compared to lower ranks (though this isn’t true in every case), and can pump out good damage while keeping their team alive.

Comparatively, Strategists in theB and C tiers are often strong, but can only flourish in niche scenarios compared to heroes in the higher tiers. They’ll also typically need to sacrifice healing for damage or vice versa, while frequently not having as high of an output as higher tiers. These heroes benefit from unique styles of gameplay, which can take a lot more time and effort to master, but allow them to dominate a game when played at their best.

The Best Of The Best

Currently, the two best Strategists inMarvel Rivals are Loki andMantis, especially given the state of the meta. Both provide a ton of damage and utility, with very versatile kits that make them hard to predict, and allow players to develop unique play styles. Both can deal damage equal or greater than Duelists while easily keeping their teams alive, which is no easy feat. Their healing is just as good, if not better, than the Strategists in the lower tiers, while keeping some of the highest damage output by far.

Marvel Rivals: Loki Character Guide (Abilities, Tips & Tricks)

The trickster god Loki in Marvel Rivals can be a great healer for any team as He performs the role of strategist by conjuring illusions.

Mantis, as one of the Strategists with a defensive ultimate, has a very aggressive kit that gives her a ton of dueling power compared to her fellow defensive Strategists. She also has a ton of utility with her ability to give herself or her fellow allies a damage buff, and has one of the easiest-to-hit CC abilities in the game in the form of her sleep. Meanwhile, Loki is always tricky to kill as the God of Mischief, and providesone of the best abilities in the game, which can prevent death altogether. He also has the most versatile ultimate, as he can simply choose to take an enemy ultimate as his own, which allows him to adapt to any situation.

3A-Tier

The Greatest Healers

The A-tier consists of Luna Snow, Cloak & Dagger, andThe Invisible Woman. All three are amazing healers with defensive ultimates that can keep their team alive throughout the majority of situations inMarvel Rivals. While they dolack damage compared to the S tier Strategists, they are still a threat. Especially when played at a high level, they can be as deadly as any other character. All three received various nerfs to their ultimates going into the mid-season patch, but they still remain some of the best defensive tools in the game.

Marvel Rivals: Cloak and Dagger Character Guide (Abilities, Ultimate, Tips & Tricks)

Cloak & Dagger are two characters paired together in Marvel Rivals, forming a single playable hero with abilities that swap between two unique forms.

Cloak & Dagger is an easy and consistent healer who has an ultimate that can be used aggressively and passively. While her kit isn’t as flexible as others, learning the ins and outs of her abilities and when to use them makes her quite powerful. Similarly, Luna Snow has one of the most iconic defensive ultimates, with the ability to act as a damage boost if the player’s team is ahead. The Invisible Woman is also gifted with a great ultimate and the ability to easily escape most situations with her double jump, which makes her invisible.

All three of these Strategists havea single powerful utility tool which keeps them alive in unique scenarios, such as Luna Snow potentially freezing flankers or Cloak dodging enemy ultimates through immunity.

2B-Tier

Great Utility and Powerful Team-Ups

Adam Warlockand Rocket Raccoon are considered quite effective due to their focus on utility and providing active team buffs. While they can provide plenty of healing and damage, they typically focus on one. Both of their ultimates can also be quite powerful in the right scenarios, but can just as easily fall flat. Essentially, thesecharacters are B-tier, because they do certain things very well but lack the versatility to consistently perform very well individually. By happenstance, Adam and Rocket also both have various revives in their kits, which can quickly get allies back in the fight.

Rocket’s beacon (his E ability) is connected to his revive, his jump boost, and his armor packs, so it’s best to position it in locations that’s hidden from enemies but accessible to allies, such as hidden behind corners or on high ground.

Adam Warlock is an incredible utility Strategist who can pump out incredibly high damage, though he does have relatively low healing that’s not as effective if allies don’t group up. He also has a great team-up with Mantis and Star Lord that allows them to self-revive, which is great as both characters are already very powerful. Similarly, Rocket Raccoon has an amazing Strategist with great healing but negligible damage who has amazing buffs for his team. He also has ateam-up with The Winter Soldier and The Punisher, which provides both with temporary infinite ammo and increased firing rate.

Down Below, But Ready To Rise

Jeff The Land Sharkis our only C-tier healer, but that doesn’t mean he’s useless or even weak, just simply not as strong as the other Strategists listed. Jeff isbest played as a flanker who goes to the back-lines of the enemy teamand attacks from a far by spamming his alternate fire into the enemy team, doing tons of AOE chip damage. He’s quite underestimated, especially when paired with Luna Snow, as the team-up gives him temporary slowing bullets with a much wider AOE.

While Jeff works best as a flanker, it’s important to still heal your team. While his healing output isn’t the highest, it’s still worth making sure your team is kept alive and healthy, especially if you’re not running a Triple Strategists composition.

The major reason why Jeff excels at flanking is due to his survivability.Jeff easily has the best movement and self-preservation out of all the Strategistson the list, which allows him to quickly reposition and stay alive. So, while he might not have the best healing, or damage, or ultimate, he can still be played in a way that can dominate games. Unfortunately for Jeff, the mid-season patch ofMarvel Rivalsindirectly weakened him by nerfing Luna Snow and other strategists, which decreased her presence and the prevalence of triple strategists, both of which allowed him to flourish.
