Marvel’s most powerful hero of all time is making his official debut in its main timeline, combining the powers of the Sentry, Iron Fist and theHulk. This level of strength has usually been confined to hypothetical stories and alternate realities, but now it’s making landfall on Earth-616, where the mainstream versions of the Avengers, X-Men and more will have to deal with being replaced as the planet’s ultimate superhuman protectors.
The hero in question is Power Man - a future version ofLuke Cagewho has collected an immense array of powers,including Hulk’s immense gamma strength and Sentry’s ability to control reality on the molecular level. Introduced in a dark potential future, Power Man’s final battle broke time and space, leaving his broken body stranded in the mainstream Marvel Universe. This god-like version of Power Man was introduced in 2023’sTimelessas the last hero on Earth, fighting a corrupted Danny Rand. Danny had taken possession of Iron Man’s armor and Doctor Strange’s Eye of Agamotto, pledging himself to themoon god Khonshu as a tyrannical Moon Knight. Power Man beat the villain, but being thrown back through time gives him a chance to prevent this horrific future from ever taking place.
Combining Hulk and Sentry’s power is a surprising move from Marvel, which tends to limit its most powerful characters.

Sentry and Hulk are two of the most powerful heroes of all time, and the future Luke Cage has claimed both of their powers, granting him limitless healing, flight, energy projection andenough strength to harm the fabric of reality with his punches. Iron Fist’s powers mean he also has immense command of Chi energy, which he used to kill the ancient god Khonshu who had ascended to a"Celestial"level (in one punch.)
What villain could Marvel possibly use to challenge the new Power Man? At this point, even Galactus isn’t in his weight class.
On top of this,Sentry’s powers aren’t what they appear. The original Sentry siloed off his powers into different personalities, but his true ability is to manipulate reality on a molecular level. While this usually means giving himself Superman-like powers, he’s also been shown to be capable of godlike feats, such as resurrecting the dead and tearing holes in the membrane of reality, allowing him to travel between dimensions.

Even with just the Sentry’s powers, Power Man would be in contention for Marvel’s new most powerful hero, but add in the Hulk and Iron Fist and he holds the title hands down. It will be fascinating to see how Marvel balances the hero to stop him being an overwhelming force, and also to see what kind of threat could possibly stand up to his power (evenGalactus shouldn’t really be in his leagueat this point.)
Luke Cage fans will be particularly thrilledwith this news, as the hero has gotten precious little attention in the last decade, with his major achievement being a political appointment as the mayor of New York. Going from near-obscurity to replacingHulkas Marvel’s strongest hero is a big jump, and Marvel fans will be along for the ride as Power Man comes to main continuity.

Luke Cage is part of the Netflix Marvel tv series slate and follows the titular character in Harlem who fights crime to protect his neighborhood. After an experiment goes wrong, Luke Cage becomes imbued with superhuman strength and skin as hard as diamonds. Falsely convicted and on the run, Luke uncovers an underground syndicate that looks to exploit the residents of Harlem. To protect them, Luke will come out of hiding to stop them, hoping to clear his name in the process.
Hulk
The Hulk, a Marvel Comics superhero created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, is physicist Bruce Banner transformed by gamma radiation. He morphs into a giant, green-skinned creature of immense strength and invulnerability when angered. Struggling with his transformations, Hulk allies with other heroes, battling villains while balancing his intellect with uncontrollable rage, making him a central figure in Marvel’s universe.
