Danteh retires from Overwatch League, cites team money issues, burnout for reason
Another OWL OG takes his bow as Danteh announced his retirement from Overwatch League amid a lackluster season at main tank.

This isn’t LG’s first foray into Overwatch. At last we saw, the Canadian/American org was in control of the Vancouver Titans Overwatch League team. Even before that, the org fielded squads in the pre-OWL era with varying amounts of success.
Let’s look at the roster ahead of the OWCS NA Stage 1 start this weekend.

It appears retirement didn’t last long for Danteh. Regardless, the team is a proven winner at the Contenders level and looks to be one of, if not the strongest NA OWCS squad. Standing in their way is the former and once more Toronto Defiant, which includes players once seen on LG’s previous OWL squad.
Is this partnership between Luminosity Gaming and Maryville Esports a sign of something more? After all, these 20-somethings cannot stay in college forever. Success in this first stage of the OWCS could mean an LG upgrade sooner rather than later.
