Batman/Superman: World’s Finest#33 – written by Mark Waid, with art by Adrian Gutierrez – put this rivalry between the Justice League and the Justice Society of America to rest, in a story that featured the dreaded villain Eclipso escaping his prison once again and trying to bathe the Earth in eternal darkness.

Thankfully, both the Justice Society of America and the Justice League stood against him,in a fight to save the world which showed how the two teams compliment each other, with the latter supplementing the legacy of the former, rather than supplanting it.

InWorld’s Finest#33, with Eclipso’s power of control, he manages to take over the Justice League. While they’re able to eventually break free from this, Eclipso simply moves onto the Justice Society of America, taking them over and trying to prey on their insecurities. This leads to some interesting revelations about how theJSA feels about the Justice League–establishing that in DC Comics canon, the Justice Society don’t actually believe the League steal their spotlight, as the more famous team.
