What This Means For Invincible Season 3

Mark’s Days Of Earning Cecil’s Approval Are Over

TheInvincibleseason 3 posterdemonstrates a significant shift ahead in Mark and Cecil’s relationship. Mark spends much of season 2 obediently following Cecil’s orders and trying to prove that he is nothing like his father, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). That era of Mark’s life is clearly over now that he is holding Cecil by the shirt collar and punching him to the point of bleeding. Cecil has clearly crossed a line that Mark has deemed to be unacceptable.

Invincible’s 6 Future Guardians Of The Globe Heroes Explained (& Why Rex Is Wearing Robot’s Suit)

Invincible’s season 2 finale introduces a future incarnation of the Guardians of the Globe, teasing out a number of potential future storylines.

There is a possibility of the poster not featuring the main version of Mark and itactually being an alternate version of Mark from another universe. However, with the multiverse-traveling Angstrom Levy (Sterling K. Brown) killed duringInvincibleseason 2’s ending, season 3 is likely to have less focus on the multiverse. This is better for the teased conflict between Mark and Cecil, as it will be more meaningful for it to be happening with the main versions of these characters that the series has been following since season 1.

Our Take On The Invincible Season 3 Poster

Season 3 Will Provide Payoff And A Compelling New Direction

The poster is a compelling tease of season 3’s conflict going beyondInvincible’s Viltrumitesand other menacing villains. The conflict between Mark and Cecil will be elevated by the personal history that they have together. Featuring the ReAnimen in the poster is also a promising sign that the tease of them still being worked on in season 2 will be paid off in season 3.Cecil’s use of the ReAnimen may even be related to why Mark is punching him inInvincibleseason 3, or Cecil may simply be using the ReAnimen to try and protect himself from Mark.

Based on the comic book character by Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows Mark Grayson,  a seventeen-year-old who leads a seemingly average life save for the fact that he lives behind the shadow of his superhero father, Omni-Man. Mark goes on to develop superhuman abilities, but he must also learn that his father’s legacy isn’t as glitzy and glamorous as he’s been led to believe.
