OneReacherseason 1 actor would be great to see return inReacherseason 4, regardless of which Lee Child novel is chosen to be adapted for next year’s installment. Reacher has enjoyed massive streaming success on Amazon Prime Video since premiering back in 2022 with a fantastic adaption of the very first Jack Reacher book,Killing Floor. Season 1 also incorporated several flashback sequences to peel back the layers ofReacher’s relationship with his fallen older brother, Joe.
Younger versions of Reacher, and his brother Joe, for that matter, were a constant part ofReacher’scritically acclaimed first season. Both Young Reacher, played by Maxwell Jenkins, and Young Joe, played by Gavin White, were included in six ofReacherseason 1’s eight episodes, which goes to show how much of a role their backstory played inKilling Floor. Even if Young Joe isn’t portrayed again in the series,I would still appreciate seeing more flashback content that incorporates Young Reacherin future seasons.

Young Reacher Was Great For Fleshing Out The Character In Season 1
Young Reacher & Young Joe Were Valuable Characters But Haven’t Returned Since Season 1
Adding more Reacher flashback sequences inReacherseason 4 and beyond would add more depth to his character, which was arguably missing fromReacherseason 3. Including more Racher backstory, whether they are true to Child’s books or invented purely for the series, like all ofNeagley’s scenes inReacherseason 3, wouldexplore new avenues for Reacher’s character and take him out of the present context of the main story. This would ultimately create a more complex and stronger version of his typically straightforward character.
When asked byScreenRantabout the possibility of returning in future seasons of Reacher,The Bondsmanactor Maxwell Jenkinsrevealed his potential interest. “I haven’t had talks with them, but the show is great. I continue to watch it, and Alan is so fun to watch. I can’t wait to see what that show has in store. If they need me back, I’ll be there.” Jenkins is a few years older now but couldstill add some valuable insight into Reacher’s upbringing– especially for viewers who haven’t read many or any books – and also bring Young Joe’s character back into the fold.

Bringing Back Young Reacher Could Be Great For The Show’s Future
There’s Still Much To Discover About Reacher’s Backstory & Upbringing
Portraying Reacher as a boy was a smart technique to introduce viewers to his character in season 1. While it’s understandable why they dropped it since it was mostly used to illustrate Reacher’s history with Joe,it’d be useful to keep finding ways to add more layers to Reacher as the years go on. Even thoughReacherseason 3 was just as critically acclaimed as the first two seasons, some viewers found it a bit mundane compared to previous installments. Incorporating Young Reacher once again may offer some intriguing complexity toReacher, especially if the series continues well into the future.
