There are a lot of theories for the story ofGrand Theft Auto 6, but under scrutiny, many of them fail to hold up. However, some theories seem to last the test of time and have only become stronger as more of the game has been revealed. I’ve playedGrand Theft Autosince I was a kid, and I can tell when a theory sounds like something Rockstar would come up with. In this case, I think Rockstar has given fans too much information.

Fan theories have been going around before Rockstar revealed any characters at all. The reveal trailer spiked things further, as finally having some details confirmed gave fans much more evidence to work with when putting pieces together. The number and variety of these theories is impressive, but as interesting and compelling as some are, it’s worth remembering that even the best are far from confirmed. So treat these theories like the rumor thatGTA 6will cost $100— you really shouldn’t worry just yet and should wait for official confirmation.

GTA 6 Story Theories Are Everywhere

There’s A New Theory With Every Trailer

Plenty of theGrand Theft Auto 6fan theories I’ve seen feel like they’re reaching too far, but I’ve also read a few that make me wonder how much is fact and how much is fiction. Some good theories revolve aroundGrand Theft Autocharacters returning forGTA 6, many of which feel like viable propositions. Basically, what’s important is toconsider whether it sounds like something Rockstar would write and if it makes sense.

I Was Wrong About Roblox & Fortnite, But I Won’t Miss Out On The GTA 6 Metaverse

When Grand Theft Auto 6 releases, it will likely come with an online metaverse that will rival some of the biggest games, and you should be ready.

Another theory that seems to have stuck sees Lucia as the betrayer. She iswearing red lipstick and is acting like Eve from the bible. In this theory, she’s going to betray her boyfriend, but while I get the idea, it’s one of those theories that feels less likely when you watch the first trailer on theRockstar Games' YouTube Channel. Lucia ends up in prison, which may show a different narrative than what the theory supports.

It’s not a good idea to take anything from the 2022 leak as evidence, because a lot of the game could have changed by now.

Rockstar is known for its fantastic narratives and plotting. If a theory doesn’t feel like it would hold up story-wise, it’s hard to say that it’s worth believing in. For example, I believe theRed Dead Redemption 3theory about the main character, becauseit comes with a lot of evidence from the other games and the company’s situation. SomeGrand Theft Autotheories have similarly compelling evidence, and I think I’ve found one that I truly believe is real.

Jason May Be An Undercover Cop in GTA 6

We Have Ourselves A Narc

As pointed out byThe-King_Of-Gameson Reddit, many fans ofGrand Theft Auto 6believe that Jason, one of the main characters, might actually be an undercover police officer. This idea comes from closely looking at the game’s trailer and promotional materials, which suggesta story line filled with deception and tricky situations. It makes a lot of sense when you consider a few things that feel off about how the trailer plays out.

I think the most compelling evidence is the promotional image forGrand Theft Auto 6where Lucia is sitting in a car with Jason. Jason is wearing BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) pants, not cargo pants. I was a law enforcement officer for many years and can confirmBDU pants are often worn by off-duty cops, as you get used to the feeling of them.

Why Grand Theft Auto 6 Is Taking So Long to Make

If Jason had hidden his true identity as a cop, it would cause a great conflict between him and Lucia.

One main point for this theory comes from how the scenes showing Lucia have less focused camera movement, seeming to move around like a person would. Itfeels like police footage from a bodycam, pushed further by the raid that happens during the same trailer, which shows police bodycam footage. The context feels like it’s Jason recording Lucia during the times she’d least expect.

Why Jason Being A Cop Would Help GTA 6’s Story

This Is Much Better Than Bonnie & Clyde

The idea that Jason is actually an undercover police officer would be a lot better than the Bonnie and Clyde themeGrand Theft Auto 6seemed to be going for. In that scenario, both would be career criminals, and the primary conflict would likely be external, coming from getting caught or something similar. A muchbetter story would come from the conflict that comes internally.

Based on what the trailer shows, Lucia ends up in prison for committing crimes. When asked what brought her there, she blames luck and not her own actions. This shows thatshe doesn’t see how morally wrong her decisions are, which could make her a great character to play alongside someone who devotes their life to stopping criminals. It’s much more interesting to see Jason being in conflict with what he has to do with Lucia, who seems more focused on enjoying the situation.

Take-Two CEO Claims The Release Of GTA 6 Could Help Sell More Consoles & Teases At PC Launch

In a new interview, the CEO of GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive has said that GTA 6 could boost console sales and teases a PC release.

If Jason had hidden his true identity as a cop,it would cause a great conflict between him and Lucia. Jason would eventually need to turn in Lucia, and he could struggle with his feelings for her and his sense of justice. It would be much better than playing two coldhearted characters who only want to get ahead and don’t care who they hurt. Rockstar is great at twists and creating moral conflict with players, and this seems like somethingGrand Theft Auto 6would do well.
