Moon Knightwas one of the most underrated shows to come from the first wave ofMarvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)TV shows, but despite the cliffhangers, it seems unlikely that the character’s story will continue in a season 2. Oscar Isaac is a treasure, and having him join the MCU as Marc Spector/Steven Grant was nothing short of extraordinary. Not to mention the fact that it finally brought one of the coolest characters from Marvel Comics to the screen with all the mythos and intrigue that makes him great.
However, since the show came and went in 2022, there have been almost no updates or details about the character, andOscar Isaac’s future in the MCU. Fortunately, according to executives at Marvel Studios, there is a plan for the agent of Khonshu to appear in projects in the future of the MCU, which means we should hopefully get answers about how the story ended, and what comes next. Meanwhile, we also got some clear details about what the landscape of Marvel shows might look like going forward.

The Chances Of Moon Knight Season 2 Happening Has Been A Popular Topic Ever Since Season 1 Ended
Where Is Marc Spector Since The Moon Knight Finale?
Here’s the issue. InMoon Knight’sseason 1 finale, the showleft things on a huge cliffhanger after revealing a third personaoperating inside Marc’s body. This reveal was exactly what was needed to bring the story even more in line with the comics, as Jake Lockley plays a pivotal role in the comics alongside the other personas. And this setup made it seem likely that the story would be picked up again one day, hopefully soon.
Would you rather have a second season of Moon Knight, or a full movie?
Unfortunately, it seems as though a second season of Moon Knight won’t be coming any time soon, though the first season’s director Mohamed Diab did say that Moon Knight could perhaps get his own movie one day. While I would love to see Moon Knight team up with various Avengers on the big screen one day, I feel as though I would prefer a second season fo Moon Knight over a full Moon Knight solo movie, as a series would allow for more screen time and arguably greater character development for the Fist of Khonshu.
Then, when Marvel Studios announced plans to make shows into multi-season outings with a new season each year, as is the plan for shows likeYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-ManandDaredevil: Born Again, itseemed likely thatMoon Knightcould be brought back for new seasons, despite the ongoing radio silence. However, new information now makes it abundantly clear that that was never the plan, but there are plans for the character to return in the future.

Moon Knight Season 2 Happening Anytime Soon Seems Unlikely After The Latest Update
There Are No Plans For A Moon Knight Season 2… Yet
Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Streaming for Marvel Studios, recently made it clearwhat to expect when it comes to Moon Knight in the MCU. As Winderbaum puts it, the inclusion of Moon Knight, and several other shows that were either planned, or made it to release, wereintended to introduce new characters. They weren’t designed to be ongoing series'. Instead, these limited series shows were used to widen the field of view over the world in the MCU.
“So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward, our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.”

Moon Knightwas one of these shows, and the series served its purpose in bringing Isaac’s character into the fold, but the rest of the plans are “down the road.” However, Winderbaum does state that he would like to see a season 2 for the show, but it seems more likely, at least for the foreseeable future, that thecharacter will now spend his time in other spots in the MCU, which could mean he returns very soon if all goes according to plan for the Multiverse Saga’s final Phase.
Moon Knight Will Return, And Potentially Sooner Than You Think
Like many other heroes, and even plenty of villains,Avengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Warsare expected to deliver an explosive and packed finaleto the Multiverse Saga of stories. Just asAvengers: Endgamefeatured a huge crossover battle between the heroes and Thanos' army,Secret Warsis setting up to have someepic crossover potential, and a villain that will call for all superhero hands on deck in order to take him down. Doctor Doom is just around the corner, and with his presence threatening the entire multiverse, there will be a common cause for heroes, anti-heroes, and villains to rally around.
How important is it for Moon Knight to be in one or both of the next Avengers movies?
Following a recent update from Marvel Television’s Brad Winderbaum, it’s been confirmed that a second season of Moon Knight won’t happen, but there are plans for Marc Spector elsewhere. I’m really hoping that this means Moon Knight will be in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Secret Wars. I feel like continuing his story is critical, though hopefully there will also be something like Midnight Sons to adequately pay off the cliffhangers at the end of Moon Knight season 1.
With a tease from Winderbaum that Moon Knight is planned to come back to the MCU in other projects, it makes a lot of sense to bring the character back in these movies. His enhanced abilities, which have been bestowed by a literal Egyptian God, and his impressive fighting skills, will certainly make him a worthy ally to other heroes as they begin to form a resistance against Doom. Of course,Moon Knightcould come back even later, but it would make the most sense for this character to not sit on the sidelines while every reality is threatened, which makes a return in Secret Wars all the more likely.
