Summary

HBO’sHarry Potterremake is supposedly going to be more book-accurate than the popular film franchise, but if that’s the case, I think the television show needs to start at a completely different point in the story. Since the first book was published in 1997,Harry Potterhas been the pinnacle of young adult fantasy. Not only have the books become a staple of many childhoods, but the movie adaptations now enjoy equally legendary status. Despite this,Harry Potteradaptations are still happening to this day, and the most notable is HBO’sHarry PotterTV show.

One of the big reasons why HBO is remakingHarry Potteris to create an adaptation that is more accurate to the original books. I can definitely see the benefit in this, as theHarry Pottermovies got many things wrongabout the source material. However,I also believe that ifHarry Potteris going to be redone, making changes isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially if it makes the story better. I think one easy place to start is the beginning of the story. HBO has the chance to kickHarry Potteroff on a thrilling note by starting the whole adventure in a slightly different place.

What’s Next For The Harry Potter Franchise?

The Wizarding World seems to be over, but the Harry Potter franchise continues to expand with a show – what’s next? Here’s what could happen.

Harry Potter’s Remake Should Begin With Voldemort Killing Harry Potter’s Parents

A New Opening Would Keep Harry Potter Fresh

A beneficialchange to theHarry PotterTV showis opening with Voldemort killing Harry’s parents. In the book version ofHarry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the story begins with a summary of Harry’s aunt and uncle, Vernon and Petunia Dursley and the hours leading up to Harry’s arrival on their doorstep. Meanwhile, the movie jumps right into Harry’s arrival, introducing Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, and Hagrid.Though these openings are nostalgic and familiar, I think they could be replaced with something more exciting.

According to theHarry Potterbooks, Lily and James Potter were killed on August 05, 2025.

Lord Voldemort holding a wand in Harry Potter

TheHarry Pottershow should open with Harry’s parents being killed because it is technically the very first point of Harry’s story. To me,Harry’s legacy truly begins on the night that Voldemort comes to kill himand is defeated instead. From there, Harry is brought to the Dursleys, which is where Hagrid finds him when he turns 11. By starting with this scene, audiences will already have a sense of whom the overarching villain is. Furthermore, Harry’s backstory will be a bit clearer from the start. Viewers won’t have to wait for clarity like Harry does.

How A Lord Voldemort Opening Scene Can Make Harry Potter Even Better

Harry’s Story Isn’t Just About Him

Ultimately, I thinkopening with Voldemort would be a great choice because it would make theHarry Pottershow feel fresh. The franchise is already so beloved, so it is vital for the show to stand apart from what has already been done, and I think this is an ideal way to do it. Furthermore, this opening scene would shed light on important characters such as Voldemort and Harry’s parents. Although Harry is the main character, his past is just as important as his present. Giving audiences a glimpse at Harry’s early years will create a more detailed story.

James and Lily Potter, along with the Marauders, are a pivotal part ofHarry Potterand are deeply beloved by audiences.

Harry Potter Updated 2026 TV Show Teaser Poster

Overall,I hope theHarry Pottershow includes many more aspects of Harry’s pastthroughout its story. James and Lily Potter, along with the Marauders, are a pivotal part ofHarry Potterand are deeply beloved by audiences. It would be great for the TV show to delve deeper into these characters and their stories. Not only do they affect Harry’s path, but they would also provide a new and somewhat unexplored part of the franchise. I think they are the key to making the newHarry Potterstand out, and opening with Voldemort can reflect their importance – given how he came to be at Godric’s Hollow.
