Spooky season has officially begun inFortnite, and to celebrate, there’s a brand-new Chainsaw weapon to add to your loadout. Inspired by the iconicTexas Chainsaw Massacrehorror movies, this melee weapon will strike fear into the hearts of your opponents as they hear the rumble of the engine, before you dash out of the shadows to attack.
Fortnitemares is one of the most exciting times of the year, bringing all things creepy to the Island. This time around, we’ve got Disney villains, a new location called Freaky Fields, and even an appearance fromSaw’s terrifyingBilly the Puppet. Alongside this, you can find the usual Halloween-themed weapons like the Witch’s Broom, as well as a brand-new Chainsaw weapon. Here’s what you need to know about it.
How To Get The Chainsaw In Fortnite
Two NPCs Sell Chainsaws, Or You Can Get One From A Chest
You canpurchase a Chainsaw from Dark Ruby at Rebel’s Roost or Andy Fangerson at Grim Gate. It will cost300 Gold Barsregardless of which character you buy it from. They only have one Chainsaw in stock, so ensure you get there near the start of a match, or they might have sold out.
It’s also possible to find the Chainsaw weapon bysearching Chests or looking for it as floor loot. It’s quite a rare weapon, though, so you probably won’t find one in everyFortnitematch. Of course, you can always eliminate an opponent who has a Chainsaw and steal it when they drop it. You’ll probably hear them coming, so you’ll know who to target.
I’ve played a few games since theFortnitemares eventbegan, and I managed to find two Chainsaws as floor loot in The Underworld, so I’d recommend heading there if you don’t have the Gold Bars to purchase one from the NPCs who sell them. It’s not guaranteed, but being in a spooky location might increase the chances of one spawning.
How To Use The Chainsaw In Fortnite
Swing It Around Or Ride It In Style
The Chainsaw has two attacks that you can unleash on your opponents:a basic Attack and a Rush Attack. The basic attack can be used by pressing the fire button (eg. R2 on PlayStation) multiple times to string together several swings of your Chainsaw. You can also hold the basic Attack button while you’re in the air to slam the Chainsaw into the ground.
If your opponent is further away and you want to close some distance, you can unleash a Rush Attack by holding down the aim button (eg. L2 on PlayStation). You’ll ride the Chainsaw at high speed before dishing out a devastating attack. I found this quite hard to pull off effectively, as it’s very easy to miss your target, and you leave yourself vulnerable to enemy fire.
Right now, the Chainsaw seems likea strong addition to theFortniteloot pool. It’s very potent at close range but has the obvious downside of needing to be right next to your opponent for it to work. This does leave you at risk of being eliminated before you even get to attack someone. For this reason, it’s best to use it when you’re already near an enemy, or when you’re able to sneak up on them before attacking.
