Black Myth: Wukong Devs Share How To Fix Technical Issues

Black Myth: Wukong developer Game Science offers some helpful advice to PC players struggling to deal with the title’s technical problems.

How To Prepare For Black Bear Guai

Unlock Fire Resistance & New Armor Crafting

After defeating the Black Wind King, you’ll be able to complete some other stuff before heading up the mountain to defeat him in his final form as Black Bear Guai. One important quest to check off your list is the “Three Bells” secret quest in the same area.To do this, ring all three bronze bells found around Chapter One:

1

Black Bear Guai from Black myth Wukong

Outside the Forest, Forest of Wolves

This bell can be found right outside the shrine where youfight the Wandering Wight, another secret boss from Chapter One. Defeat Chief Guangzhi first, then ring the bell in his arena.

2

Black Bear Guai’s Phase 2 from Black Myth Wukong

Snake Trail, Bamboo Grove

After the boss fights with Yaoguai Chief Guangmou, they head up the steps instead of following the path of the cave. You’ll see the bell on the path up the steps.

3

New Relic screen for Craving Eyes in Black Myth Wukong

Marsh of the White Mist, Bamboo Grove

Soon after defeating Guangmou, you’ll face yet another boss, theWhiteclad Noble. After defeating him, follow the main path until you find and ring the last bell.

After ringing each one, you’ll unlock a secret boss fight. For more visual guides on the bells' locations, check outConCon’s video on YouTube. You’ll be teleported back to the past, facing Elder Jinchi, a Yaoguai King.Defeat him here, and he’ll drop the Fireproof Mantle, which nullifies fire damage when activated. This is super helpful, as Black Bear Guai is a fire-wielding, ursine foe.

How To Defeat Black Bear Guai: Phase One

Prepare To Fight A Big Bear

Though Black Bear Guai is the Black Wind King’s final form, their fighting styles are a bit different, so there are a few things you need to watch out for.He can still cloud step, although you can now do it as well.Use this to stay at a safe range from him until you’re ready to attack.

Additionally, you can look to Immobilize him to make hitting your attacks a bit easier. The only thing to watch out for when going in for the spell is to ensure that he cannot mist away,as the spell only works if he’s in physical form when you cast it.It also won’t hit if he’s too far in the air, so watch out for his leaping attack’s timing so you don’t waste mana.

The leaping attack is powerful, but he’s in the air for a long time. This makes the attack pretty easy to dodge, although the camera doesn’t track him as well when he’s airborne,so you’ll want to pay extra attention to his timing when you dodge. He can also do this attack out of a mist-step, but keeping your wits about you should allow you to stay out of his slams.

If Black Bear Guai ends a combo with one of these leaping attacks, you should have enough time for a focused heavy attack, which will stun him and give you even more time to get hits in.

Other than the leaping attack, Phase One of this fight will see him mostly just swiping at you with his claws like any other bear would. He’ll sometimes throw a stomp in there, but no matter his attack pattern, your only real window for attack is between his combos. His hits come so quickly that attacking while he’s in a combo will almost always result in an interruption rather than good damage for you, so waiting between combos might be the safer and more consistent choice.

How To Defeat Black Bear Guai: Phase Two

More Mist-Charging And Some Fire Damage

At about half health, Black Bear Guai will shift into his second phase, marked by the flames going up and down his arms. Most of his attacks will stay the same, except now they will also cause fire damage buildup and burn you. If you completed the “Three Bells” quest as above and defeated Elder Jinchi, this is when you should activate the Fireproof Mantle to avoid all this extra damage.

The effects of the Mantle don’t last forever, but they should last long enough to get some good hits before you return to a more defensive playstyle. One other thing to watch out for is an attack you’ll remember from your fight against the Black Wind King. This attack, where he turns to mist and charges you, can only be dodged. That is, unless you Immobilize him.

If you still have mana left at this point in the fight, and you can time the spell right, casting Immobilize while Black Bear Guai is in the mist form will actually interrupt the attack. He’ll be stunned just long enough for you to get a couple of good hits before he starts attacking again. As long as you have the mana, this trick will make Phase Two easier.
