Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully as a human and an avatar in Avatar

The way that we left the Sully family, they’re mourning heavily the loss of their child. So I do believe that that will carry out a great deal in the third installment of Avatar. Jake and Neytiri are on this journey of acceptance, of accepting who they are and what they must be for each other and how they’re going to push forward to keep their family safe. And I love the fact that in the core of this entire saga is a beautiful love story, and I love that Jim really wrote that for them. But it’s not going to be easy. They’re not always going to meet eye to eye, and I just hope that they keep each other safe. That’s my hope for them.

What This Means For Avatar: Fire And Ash’s Story

The Threequel Will Pick Up Where The Way Of Water Left Off

Avatar: The Way of Watertells an emotional story and sees the Sully family embracing the way of water as they face outside threats and inside conflicts. With the ending wrapping up only some of the storylines,Avatar 2’s ending leaves many threads unresolved, including Kiri’s origin. With Quaritch being saved by Spider, the fight against the RDA isn’t over, though the events in the second movie havecreated a tighter bond between the Sully family and the Metkayina clan.

Avatar 3’s Darkest Jake Theory Sets Up An Incredible Payoff 16 Years In The Making

Avatar: Fire and Ash may bring back a battle between Quaritch and Jake Sully that dates back to the original movie, thus changing everything.

Neteyam was killed by Quaritch inAvatar: The Way of Water’s ending, though his body is ultimately returned to Eywa. Jake’s ability to reconnect with his son through Metkayina’s ancestral tree is a crucial step in his journey of grief. Saldaña’s comment suggests thatAvatar: Fire and Ashwill bea continuation of the previous film. It doesn’t seem like the Sully family will have an easier time in the upcoming film, but love will be the essence of the story.

Our Take On Avatar: Fire & Ash

The Next Movie Will Take Things To A New Level

The Way of Watertook the franchise in a new direction, with Cameron having also revealed that some scenes fromthe upcomingAvatar: Fire and Ashwere filmed during the second film to maintain continuity. Saldaña’s comments further explain that the film will expand on the mysteries left by the second installment with some overlaps.

The actor’s comments also seem to indicate that there’ll beinternal conflicts in the Sully family. With Kiri’s origin still unknown, there are many pieces missing from thestory, and it seems thatAvatar: Fire and Ashwill take the battles and tensions to a whole new level, and what comes out in the end will still be worth the journey. On the other hand,Avatar 4will incorporate a six-year time jump, making it possible some storylines will have to be adjusted.
