Cloverworks and the Original Staff Return for the Movie
As the title of the movie suggests, the film covers the Spain Arc of the manga and serves as a sequel to the original series which first aired in October 2018. Produced by CloverWorks, the first season ran for 13 episodes and was received well enough for the series to return for the said film in October 2021. Both CloverWorks as well as the original production staff would return for the sequel with Naoyuki Tasuwa serving as the director and Yoshimi Narita serving as the screenwriter.
Other notable staff members include Minako Shiba and Chisato Kawaguchi who are in charge of the character designs, and Masaru Yokoyama who has provided the music. The original voice cast have also reprised their roles with Hiroki Takahashi voicing Takato and Yuki Ono voicing Junta.

What is Dakaichi About?
Like its long, very detailed title implies,Dakaichi: I’m Being Harassed By the Sexiest Man of the Yearis centered around Takato Saijo, an experienced actor who finds himself being harassed by an amateur actor named Junta Azumaya who has just been voted the sexiest man of the year. While Takato has held the title for five years straight he suddenly finds his spotlight stolen by the gorgeous newbie who happens to be very interested in him.
As work brings them together as co-stars in a movie, a drunken night leads to Takato unexpectedly waking up in Junta’s bed, forming the rocky foundation for their relationship. While some viewers may be put off by Junta’s advances at first, the relationship between Takato and Junta does eventually develop to become quite wholesome. The series manages to be quite compelling as a whole, especially as Takato and Junta attempt to navigate their relationship amidst the life of glitz and glamor that they lead that comes with unavoidable constant supervision by paparazzi.
As for the movie, the sequel sees Takato and Junta head to Spain as they prepare for their latest roles in a play which involve a lot of flamenco dancing. Not wanting Junta to outshine him, Takato travels to Spain to temper his dancing skills. However, with Junta’s unexpected arrival, Takato finds himself entangled with Junta’s family as well as a love rival. Safe to say, the release of theDakaichimoviehas been long overdue, but hopefully, this means Crunchyroll’s BL library will continue to grow.
