Henry Cavill’s horror movie with a rare 0% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes is coming to streaming in December. Cavill’s star shot into the stratosphere when he landed the role of Superman in the now-defunct DCEU. His Kal-El duties saw Cavill appearing in five DC-derived movies, including an unexpected cameo inBlack Adam.

But the DCEU is not the only franchise sandbox Cavill has played in. The star also contributed his outsize presence toMission: Impossible – Fallout, making a formidable sparring partner for Tom Cruise. Cavill also donned fantasy gear to star in Netflix’s seriesThe Witcherfor three seasons before moving on. The Guy Ritchie-verse may not be an official franchise, but if it were, Cavill would be one of its mainstays, with two Ritchie films on his resume, and a third,In the Grey, coming soon. Cavill has even visited the MCU, enjoying a cameo in this summer’sDeadpool & Wolverine.

For Fans Of…

TheHellraiserfranchise launched in 1987 with the Clive Barker-directed original film, which introduced the iconic horror villain Pinhead. MultipleHellraisersequelsfollowed, but by the time 2005’sHellraiser: Hellworldrolled around, the series had lost steam as a theatrical franchise and been relegated to direct-to-video status. The movie was so poorly received that the series went on hiatus until 2011’sHellraiser: Revelations, a slapdash entry rushed out for rights retention purposes, starring Stephan Smith Collins as Pinhead.

Critics had very little kind to say aboutHellraiser: Hellworld, as reflected in the film’s 0% Rotten Tomatoes score. It’s worth checking out, however, for Cavill’s early performance if nothing else. The cast is indeed the film’s biggest selling point, with Henriksen and Katherine Winnick also starring, along withThe Walking Dead’s King Ezekiel actor Khary Payton. The movie’s meta-horror twist – the previousHellraisermovies exist in the film’s universe – is also intriguing.

What Screen Rant Has Said About Hellraiser: Hellworld

In a decently creative twist on the series' usual formula, Hellraiser: Hellworld concerns an online game of the same name that incorporates elements of the Hellraiser iconography and lore. Two years after one of their friends dies by suicide, a group of young people previously enthralled with the Hellworld game are invited to a themed party at a spooky old mansion. The mysterious party host is played by genre legend Lance Henriksen, in a nice bit of casting. Meanwhile, Henry Cavill plays Mike, one of the main group who happens to be obsessed with sex, and of course, that leads to his downfall at the hands of Pinhead and his Cenobites. -Before Superman, Henry Cavill Met Pinhead in Hellraiser: Hellworld
