What Never Let Go’s VOD Release Means For The Movie
The Survival Horror Wasn’t A Hit In Theaters
Never Let Go’s reviewshaven’t been glowing from critics, and the film currently holds a lackluster 57% score onRotten Tomatoes. The audience score is even lower, coming in at just 53%, suggesting that most movie-goers didn’t love the film.
This mixed reception is reflected in the film’s box office performance. Made on an estimated budget of $25 million,Never Let Gohas grossed only $13 million worldwide, making it a fairly significant flop. Clearly, the film just didn’t connect with audiences in theaters, and that’s why its digial release comes only two weeks after its theatrical bow. The film being available to watch at home could help it expand its reach, but it almost certainly won’t be earning enough on home-viewing platforms to offset its theatrical losses.

At a $25 million budget,Never Let Gomay have been looking at a break-even point of between $50 million and $62.5 million.
Why The Film Could Fare Better On Home Viewing Platforms
When a film gets off to a poor start at the box office and interest is low, a quick VOD release can be a wise choice. Sometimes, poor theatrical performance is because a film just doesn’t “feel” theatrical or because awareness is low, and some titles are just better suited to home viewing.
Never Let Go Ending Explained
Alexandre Aja’s newest horror film pits Halle Berry and her two young sons against a shape-shifting evil while trapped in a post-apocalyptic forest.
It’s possible thatNever Let Gowill be one such title, and the movie may end up being a viewership hit when it eventually comes to streaming in a few months.Often, a recognizable movie star and a straightforward premise is enough to get viewers to click on a film on streaming, as was the case with Netflix’sBird Box(2018). While VOD performance seems unlikely to turn the film into a financial hit,Never Let Gomay yet find its audience.
